I saw Transformers.
I will just say: I never watched the TV show. Nope. Never. I briefly owned one toy, and I couldn't even tell you which one. I won it in some school raffle. All my Transformers knowledge comes from
Shortpacked.
So, I'm relatively certain that this movie was not made for me. I don't get the nostalgia high from seeing my childhood fandom on the big screen.*
If you've heard the complaints, you've probably heard about the two ghetto autobots. They were obnoxious, rest assured. They were an attempt at comic relief, but when your main character is bumbling, awkward and neurotic, with his even more bizarre parents in tow (plus his roommate, plus the Sector 7 guy...), who needs more comic relief?
As a non-fan of the whole franchise, I can't say this movie is worse than the first. Actually, I think it's better, since we don't have all that crap at the Pentagon with the bespectacled
smartest woman in the world. Those characters were so brief and worthless.
*Perhaps a My Little Ponies movie would have that effect on me?

Also, I finished Torchwood Children of Earth. The best thing is how they twisted around you hate for Frobisher into pity. His final choice was wrong and saddening, but in line with his character, who had so clearly been set up for the fall. Clever writing, I think.
