What does it mean when I'm in the mood to listen to music I can't understand?
So, I borrowed my dad's truck, loaded it up, and went over to the apartment. Got there in time to help the landlords take out of the wobbly loft bed that isn't as cool as I wanted to think it would be. Unrolled the rug, unpacked the kitchen stuff. Marveled at the unnecessary number of cups I own. And the mismatched plates. But serious, how did I wind up with so many cups?
Discovered the spoons and knife left by previous tenant.
Forgot to remove nasty microwave left by previous tenant.
Reserved the uhaul for the furniture move on Sunday. Bought hand soap and dish soap, and a few other bits here and there for the apartment. There's nothing but a pitcher of filtered water in the fridge so far. Not sure when I'll get around to fixing that.
I get giddy, driving around the neighborhood. It's so classy, and full of cool stuff, and my place is so cheap. I squee over all the things that are a walking distance from me.
The neighbor I share a balcony/porch with is nice. An old musician dude, who has strangely good hearing. The other girl that lives there and the landlords told me he keeps an eye out for what's going on, and it's true. As I was leaving after dropping something off last night, he poked his head out the door to make sure the strange noises weren't too strange. We talked a little. He likes Lost, so at least we won't annoy each other cranking our tvs up on Wednesday nights.
The only tenant I haven't met is the guy below my apartment. I hear he's kinda fussy about no noises after a certain hour.
My body is all achey. I went up and down those stairs something like 14 times. It's amazing how much I was able to fit in Dad's truck. Not that I want a truck anytime soon. I hated parking that thing. And it's only a Ford Ranger. Clearly, I am a small car kind of gal.
The tiny apartment sometimes still makes me a little sad, because it's just so freaking tiny. As I unpacked my kitchen appliances, I thought "I don't have room for a dish drying rack and a paper towel dispenser on this counter... where the hell does my blender go?" You can't open the fridge door all the way with the table set up, but you can open it most of the way at least.
But it'll all work out, and the apartment will be good. And about half the distance to work. And, most of all, a place of my own.
So, Lost nerds, what do you think of the new season?
Am I the only one hoping all this time traveling means that dead characters have a chance of cameos? C'mon, Eko and Rousseau! Heck, I'd love to see Mikhail again, too.
