take a look at US Patent No. 6,324,538 and tell me that doesn't describe nearly every damn user-generated site on the planet ? prior art ? how 'bout sixdegrees ? geocities ? craigslist ? every damn wiki-like site ever constructed since Al Gore invented the Interweb ?
this rant was prompted by the news that GraphOn has ended it's legal dispute with AutoTrader.com.
GraphOn filed suit against Autotrader.com alledging that Autotrader.com violates the above (and other) patents that GraphOn holds.
I think I'm going to send some email to my yahoo account and watch it push to my iPhone just to spite NPT Inc. The funny part is that I don't see NPT filing suite against anyone else after their RIM job from a few years ago. I don't see anyone doing anything differently... not Apple, Microsoft and their Active Sync, lowly old IMAP clients and servers that support the IDLE command ?
Software patents have ceased to provide any benevolent protection for individuals or society. They must die.
