Yesterday I underwent a Programmer's Rite of Passage… apparently I've written code that is so good it blows out the Windows XP registry and corrupts it. Mind you, this code is nothing beyond the standard Excel/Access VBA, but something about it corrupted my "hive" which in turn prevented Windows from loading upon reboot.
I'm not sure if this is poor coding on Microsoft's part or my own, but the result is a
Blue Screen of Death upon bootup.
Fortunately a
quick repair diagnostic restored my operating system to a fully operational state this morning. It's like none of it ever happened!
I now place my report generation code disabled behind lock and key, not unlike a certain
artifact tucked away in the back of a musty warehouse - thrumming with untold destructive power and meant to be forgotten.
