I've lost almost all my faith in the American people. If Giuliani ends up as our next president, I think I'm going to move to another Country. Here's the short list:
Somewhere in Belgium.
Heidleburg, Germany
Linz, Austria
British Columbia/Canada (probably Vancouver)
Luxembourg
Bolzano, Italy (They speak German there too)
For the record, I'm willing to learn French or Italian.
I'm saddened by my fellow American's lack of interest in the government that's killing us, our own. I'm getting very weary of the Plutocracy, so here are some of my criteria for the upcoming election.
#1 - The government needs to be out of my life more. Habeas Corpus, fair trials, and governmental oversight must be reinstated immediately.
#2 - The crimes of the Bush Administration must be prosecuted.
#3 - Action must be taken to remove power from the Federal government, making it smaller. I want to see dramatic cuts in almost every department.
#4 - Withdrawal of troops from every country that is NOT: The U.S., Puerto Rico, or The Virgin Islands within 2 years. Withdrawing 1/4th of the total troops in all countries every 6 months. This should begin within 2 months of change of office.
#5 - Stop printing money. We're in a recession, stop printing more money to convince us that we're not. Sometimes the markets & economy go down, deal with it.
#6 - The issue of national heath care must be addressed. The free market is obviously filled with douche bags so this issue cannot be left to them. I believe the system should be nationalized, and the money should come from cut programs such as Corporate Welfare, crop subsidies, and pork barrel legislation.
#7 - Income tax should be reduced. The government needs to be given less money, they clearly aren't responsible with the amounts we have been giving them.
#8 - The public Education system should be nationalized. A large number of administrators need to be dismissed (most of the money spent on education currently goes to them) on many levels. Colleges are a joke as they are simply trying to get money from students instead of actually teaching them anything, which causes grade inflation and has caused the obsolescence of the baccalaureate degree. School should be free until the age of 25, and provided at a nominal fee after that.
#9 - More money for research. Suggested Areas: Whatever Nasa feels like, Alternative power/fuel, Stem Cells, Genetic, and Random things no one funds currently (like biological informatics).
If you read the above list, then you'll see I'd like Ron Paul to be president except for the Health Care, Education, and Research issues. I would be pleased with him, but if someone else got the nod I might be ok with that too. Though I would secretly hope that California Nationalizes health care and Education, and pays for it by increasing property tax to levels that aren't absurdly low (especially for corporations).
If you know of a reasonably warm or stable country, with intact personal freedoms, that speaks English or German, please let me know. If they speak French or Italian, that might be interesting/useful as well.
Also, if you can give me a reason I might want to learn Spanish, that could help too.
If you're concerned, frightened, or otherwise distraught about the direction the United States is heading, please participate in local demonstrations, protests, and rallies and do what you can to make a difference.
Failing that, please register as a Republican and vote in your state's Primary for Ron Paul.
