The episode had a... very uplifting feel through all of it and very dreamy.
I missed the colors of Life really missed it. It was fantastic to see it again, visually.
The episode opens, like it opens in Merit Badge, like it opened in Trapdoor, with Dani's voice bringing Charlie back to reality. Dani is always the one who brings him back to reality.
Going back up to space.
Crews wanted to get back to space and they touch up on it here. Re-Entry, back to society or back to Earth. This episode deals with a man who wants to go back to the place that made him happy, back up in space.
Charlie has a similar sentiment but its not returning to a place but to a time and how things were, his old life before prison. Bodner shooting him? It made him angry, mad and utilizing Zen once again to keep that rage at bay on the outside.
I do like Tidwell being tougher. That's what I ask for, see? And I like Tidwell being tough. I respect that. I'm slightly baffled why Reese isn't all up in arms at her partner being shot right in front of her.
Although, I don't know what to think of Tidwell suddenly getting how Charlie thinks. That's usually Dani's domain.
I'm okay with Tidwell and Reese (I still have a 'why are they still together???? knee jerk reaction. I don't think that'll ever go away.) I'm still really, really really iffy on Tidwell being the Captain. Sergeant, Lt it's okay with me. colleague even better but captain??? I will never be okay with that.
Why didn't he just let go?
It's the same thing that could be asked of Charlie, why didn't he let go? Because he got things to do. He's got miles to go before he sleeps and to add another cliche line, he isn't going to go gentle into that good night.
A club of two.
Tucker and Ellis were partners, a club for extreme sports, built for two. First instance, people think that Ellis was a coward for cutting the line and letting Tucker fall but it turned out it was Tucker who wanted Ellis to cut the rope.
A club of two, and letting someone fall. Concepts that could be attributed to Crews and Reese, especially when IMO that's part of the core of their partnership: 'Don't let me fall'.
If you're familiar with the spoiler:
this could possibly be the reason for the partners breaking-up, Charlie breaks the cord of their partnership because he wants to protect Dani and puts her faraway unfortunately for Charlie, her path won't lead her to look at the face of God, according to Rand, it will bring her to familiar dark paths.
People would like to know they'd be remembered when they're gone
Reese, without Crews.
Hee. I admit, I squee'd here (although I squee'd more during the opening when Dani was sitting beside Charlie's bedside) and the expression on Dani's face when Charlie was teasing Dani and the expression on her face. She looked slightly embarrassed and... something that read: 'Don't go there'.
They've settled into a relaxed pace here but I am disappointed because: She is still not inside the conspiracy! A whole season's build-up and finally the question and... Charlie doesn't come clean to her! *headdesk*
Dammit, Charlie, Dani is ready. She's been psyching up for this!
Don't you ever call me into that interrogation room again.
Dani seems averse to being asked in the interrogation room. She doesn't like it, at all. I wonder why that is? Bad experience during undercover? Or just something she's just really averse too?
The expression on her face while she was waiting and before Stark entered, she really didn't like being in there if it's not necessary. And Tidwell questioning them about Charlie's motives and the look on Dani and Stark's face... they knew he was up to something but they're not telling.
Dani was the only person in his room, no flowers or fruits but Dani's there, she's also there for him for his medical check-up.
I do love the way the detectives again set-up a take down without any need to talk, they just switched places and there you go. I enjoyed Dani ordering someone on their knees way too much, heh. Also, Dani has a new way of sitting in an interrogation room.
Got something that belongs to you.
Well, that was predictable. Also, the episode stills totally spoiled it for me. So, Bodner was being blackmailed, huh? What does Bodner have to do with Rayborn?
Teaching a class on the nature of debt, we had a discussion
Ted being badass and teaching in prison? Awesome.
Another point of awesome? Detectives in kevlar! Detectives in kevlar and gas masks! Awesome, awesome, awesome.
But I am still very, very annoyed that after a season, Dani's still not in the conspiracy that Charlie seems determined to put her at arms length and because of Dani's propensity to not ask, it ensures that Dani will be away from the conspiracy for a damn long time. And argh. She needs to be in the conspiracy.
