Memphis was awesome. I was slightly underwhelmed by Beale Street at first but the people who live and work in the area more than made up for it. The hotel was awesome. The staff at the hotel were awesome. The pool on the roof was awesome and if I'd known about it the day before then I would have been hanging out in the pool when the fireworks display was going on across the street at the baseball park.

Dyer's has really tasty, and incredibly greasy, burgers, fries and shakes. I'd suggest going to Gus's Fried Chicken before 11 and camping outside the door. When they open, the tables fill up really quickly and there is a serious wait. I recommend the fried green tomatoes as well as the chicken. I wanted to try the pie but there was no way I was going to be able to eat dessert after that lunch. :)

Floridian tourists in Memphis are the spawn of Satan... and stupid.

Graceland is pricey... $10 to park, $30 to see the house and grounds. I'm sure that it was tasteful and classy in the 70's. So... um... yeah. Oh, and random little observation. The King has a shitload of mirrors on his ceilings.
I'm just saying.

road trip, memphis, vacation, rambling
