CAST OF CHARACTERS

Hotel Staff:

Herman Ashby: Hotel Manager

Mr. Ashby is very dedicated to the hotel. He is often found walking around, checking on everything when he doesn’t have specific work to do. He is responsible for most of the running of the hotel, and reports only to the owner of the hotel, Evan Wethersby. Although always polite and kind, he does strike a certain fear in the hearts of his employees. His icy tone when angry sends shivers up the spine of anyone within earshot. His calm demeanor is great for dealing with guests, and he never loses his cool. He lives in the hotel, and is still single, joking that he is married to his work, which seems to be the truth. If one wants to get on his good side, raspberries are always a good bet, but it’s information that few people have.

Evan Wethersby: Hotel Owner

Mr. Wethersby is the owner of the Wethersby Hotel which has now been open for two years. He doesn’t do much with the place, preferring to let Mr. Ashby run things as he does such a good job. He travels during the week, doing charity work in the city and beyond, preferring that to hotel business. He comes in every Saturday to have dinner with Mr. Ashby to get a status report on the hotel. He is a favorite with all the hotel staff and guests with his charismatic personality, and makes sure to know everyone’s name and a little bit about them.

Charles Mack: Head Bellhop

Charles is the kindest man you’ll ever meet. He truly cares about each and every guest, and wants to do everything he can to keep them happy. He knows every guest’s name and what room they’re in, having a great memory. He knows all the ins and outs of the building, and knows something about everyone in it. He is a great resource of information, knowing much more than people give him credit for. The rest of the staff think of him as a much more approachable Mr. Ashby.

Owen and Skylar Bellsmark: Bellhops

Owen and Skylar are twins, identical to the last freckle. At 16 years old, they are quite mature for their age, and have had their jobs since the hotel opened. They are close to Charles, and although they don’t know as much about the guests as he does, they do know a lot about the regular guests and the live-in residents. They can be sneaky and pull a few harmless pranks (usually on the kitchen staff), but they take their jobs seriously. They spend every day after school and the weekends at the hotel, having their own small room to live in in the hotel since their parents passed away.

Robert (Billy) Wethersby: Elevator Operator

Mr. Wethersby’s nephew, he is an enthusiastic 12-year-old. His uncle gave him the job to keep him out of his parent’s hair, and he takes it with the dedication only a young boy can. He tends to talk just a little too much, but is easily silenced with a stern look or a kind reminder. He knows where to go in the hotel to get the best of anything, and knows the surrounding area very well. Any questions about the best restaurant or bar will be answered with more detail then you ever needed by Billy.

Edwin Gools: Head Chef of Hotel Kitchens

To say that Edwin speaks loudly would be a bit of an understatement. How he can go on yelling orders and instructions for so long without going hoarse is a mystery many have been trying to solve for years. He doesn’t take any sass for anyone and has no problem throwing someone out of his kitchen if they become annoying. He is serious about his food, and nothing goes out without his go-ahead. Although he is no-nonsense and can be harsh, he has a soft-spot for kids, and tolerates all of the Bellsmark twin’s shenanigans with a smile. He is married with two older children, one daughter and one son.

Markus Callaghan: Leas Cara

A jovial and fun loving person, Markus has a passion for food that he feels is matched by few others. He has a strong Irish accent that isn’t quite as loud as Edwin’s, but definitely carries. He is good friends with all the people in his kitchen, and treats them all as family. He is always willing to go out for a drink after work, anything to keep him away from his house where his mother has decided to shack up for an undetermined amount of time. When asked he usually mutters “’til death do us part”.

Michel Ames: Harlequin

Straight from the south of France, Michel moved to America after some tragedy no one is clear on. He is soft spoken and mainly keeps to himself, controlling his kitchen with pointed looks and highly skilled cooks. He expects the best all the time, every time. Not much is known about Michel’s personal life, no one knows if he’s dating or married or plans on staying alone forever. And most are too afraid to ask.
.

Marsha Vanderbie: Concierge, Front Desk

Marsha is kind and sweet to guests and the higher-ups in the hotel, but she is not afraid to speak her mind in any situation. She is quick-witted and sarcastic, always ready with a smart remark in any situation. At 19 years old she has the ‘I’ll never die’ mentality and has no problem taking risks if there’s a possibility of a high return. She loves to go out and dance, and prefers to be commitment free for now. However she does have a bit of a crush on Liam, one of the other concierges, although she would never admit it.

Liam Roderick: Concierge, Front Desk

Liam is a shy and quiet young man of 20 years old, but is very good at his job, able to put his insecurities aside to do his work. He is terribly funny when he does talk, but only those who bother to get to know him realize it. He is humble and kind to everyone and often gives the Bellsmark twins ideas for their pranks. He has dreams of eventually being manager of the hotel, but knows he’ll have to be a little more outgoing for that to happen. He is oblivious to the way Marsha feels about him, his knowledge of women very limited.

Warren Price: Concierge, Front Desk

Even though he is not very old, Warren still keeps to old-fashioned values. He treats everyone with respect, even if it’s forced (which it usually is when it comes to Marsha). He tries to have a ‘live and let live’ mentality, but he still isn’t comfortable with the way young people are behaving in recent times. He gets along with most of the hotel staff, although he is known to bicker with Marsha quite frequently. Guests love him for all his knowledge of the town, and he is always happy to lend a hand when it’s needed. He is married with a daughter.

Stella Wakster: Head Maid

Stella has a touch of OCD and tends to get agitated when the maids carts are not organized to her standards. She deals with the other 15 maids who work under her, answering to Mr. Ashby who she isn’t afraid of like many of the other employees. She gets her work done with a happy smile and does it well and quickly. She keeps a stash of candy on her cart that she gives to kids and the younger employees.

Police Force:

Lawrence (Larry) Gourdy: Superintendent of Police

Suspected of being corrupt, Commissioner Gourdy doesn’t spend much time around police headquarters. He lets those under him do most of the work, doing a lot of shady deals with the mob. At least that’s the word on the street. He isn’t very personable when he comes to headquarters, preferring to lock himself in his office by himself. He is married to a woman who is rumored to have a shady past, but nothing has ever been proven.

Jason Alderson: Chief

A man who believes the best in people, everyone thinks that Jason should really be in charge. He does most of the real police work that the Superintendent’s job includes, but never complains. He wants to see the city be a safer place for his wife and kids and the wife and kids of the rest of the city, but often feels that he’s fighting a losing battle. It’s been rumored that he will be stuck in his job forever since he never takes favors, and therefore can’t be trusted, but he never comments on it. He believes that you should always do the right thing, even if it isn’t popular.

Albert (Bert) Finklestien: Deputy Chief

The one who’s rumored to be next in line for the Superintendent’s job, it’s no secret that Bert has ties to the mob. It’s rumored that his brother has his own gang that he helps out when they need it. It seems that Bert is trying to do everything opposite of what is expected from his job title. He is known for coming in late to work, drinking a coffee leisurely at his desk before doing any work at all. After that, he may disappear for hours at a time to an unknown location. Bert is still single, and many of the police officers joke that he’s too annoying to land a real girl.

William (Willie) Steeves: Police Officer

The newest rookie on the squad, William is constantly teased and hazed. He wants to be a good cop, and is just now learning about how corrupt the department is. He still has a hard time with some of the red tape he has to go through to catch the crooks, but he’s learning how to get around the rules to help people he feels need it.
