Art + RP Meme

Jan 21, 2010 02:05

I am so ready to be finished with this current project- the weather is thankfully warming up, so I should be finished painting soon. Next time I do a commission for someone that includes a prop that needs to be painted, I'm going to make sure the weather won't be colder and rainier than it has been in years.

In the meantime, I've been working on some artwork. I don't get to do a lot of art these days, but I've started working on designs for my book again, and I needed some new art for an LJ layout I'm coding. It's been ages since I've made one, and I'm terribly rusty.

I did this earlier today- I've never done a digital painting, so I thought I'd try one of my favorite subject: Kimba. ♥ ♥ I LOVE MY CAT YOU GUYS. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ It was a neat exercise, and I look forward to trying more of these in the future. :D

Here's a cute sketch of Meirin and Lilyan'dra I quickly colored. I might use this for my flist layout.

Also, since everyone and their grandmother has done this meme, I might as well:

1. Where and when did you start RPing?: I honestly don't remember, but I started really getting into roleplay in middle school. I didn't start roleplaying in an actual game on the internet until high school.

2. Do you RP anywhere other than LJ?: Oh yes. I roleplay in our D&D sessions, I roleplay on the forums for Louvre (Dofus guild), and Dad and I essentially roleplayed our way through the holiday season. It's a good thing I've always had an overactive imagination.

3. Do you play in any public games?: I currently play at damned.

4. Do you prefer first-person comment spam or prose logging?: Prose. Prose prose prosety prose. I've always been a prose person.

5. What was the first character you ever played?: Haha, my first D&D character, Crysannia Fleetfoot, the half-elven bard. In an official game on LJ, it was Ron Weasley (you know, back when single-fandom games still existed).

6. Who's your favorite character to play now and why?: This is a hard one! Faully, my Dofus Osa, is probably my favorite to play, and writing him is great fun. I don't get to play him nearly as often as I'd like though, even on the Louvre forums. My second favorite is definitely the Scarecrow and his usually-upbeat personality. It helps that I have an undying love for The Wizard of Oz. I also love writing for Meirin, though finding a place to play original characters is problematic.

7. What's the longest you've ever consistently played one character?: I've played Meirin off and on for years, but as far as consistently, it's probably Ron Weasley. I played him at magic_hogwarts/magic_life for ages, up until the game ended.

8. What's your biggest RP pet peeve?: People not following through with plots that we've planned. I don't normally plan stuff ahead of time, so when I do, I like to see it through to the end.

9. Do you read RP secrets and the RP anon meme?: I read RP Secrets every day- I usually skip most of the secrets and skim through the comments- I like seeing what sorts of characters are being played out there. It's neat to see some lesser-known canons played! ♥

I usually read the anon meme once, then forget it exists. People comment anonymously, so I can't really read it for the same reason I read RP Secrets. :(

10. If you've played in public before, do you prefer community based or journal based games?: Community. The first game I played in had both- connected journals, and logs were done prose format in the main community. I adored that system, as I really dislike action tags.

11. Would you rather play with someone who's very very IC but a mediocre writer or someone who isn't always IC (but not terrible) and a great writer?: I've played with both, and I don't mind either. If I had to pick one, I suppose I'd go with the mediocre writer.

12. Do you have a "RP partner"?: Not anymore. It makes me sad to think about her.

13. Do you ever stalk any casts, games, or players? Who?: I really only read stuff at damned nowadays, and I follow a lot of characters there. Everyone writes so fantastically that I can't help myself. :)

14. In your opinion, which part of an app is the most difficult/annoying?: History, especially if it has to be brief. AP English killed my ability to summarize, so I'm painfully bad at keeping it short and concise.

15. Are you one of those people who has to customize their character's journal layout and userinfo?: I usually pretty up the userinfo, but I'm too lazy to make shiny layouts for everyone nowadays. I don't even have one for my personal journal.

16. What was your first game?: magic_hogwarts, which then became magic_life.

17. Are there any canons you avoid tagging characters from?: Not really. I don't know a lot of the canons out there nowadays as it is.

18. Most memorable scene in any thread?: Way, way too many to remember- I'm one of those people who looks at their older stuff fondly. Some favorite ones at the top of my mind: the dueling competition threads and the costume ball at magic_past, the Scarecrow getting a new name from Peter Parker at damned, that epic war battle at magic_life, and that huge roleplay event MissMarie held on the official Dofus forums. Good times.

19. Do you RP sex?: No. I'd probably just have a tasteful "fade to black" if I did.

20. Do you play more males or females?: Oh man, MALES. I don't know why I'm so painfully bad at playing females. I wish I knew. :/

21. What *won't* you RP?: Stuff that creeps me out. I won't play it because... well, it creeps me out.

22. Dressing rooms- yes or no?: I've not played in one myself, but I don't think I'd mind.

23. Ever RPed a pairing?: Haha, yes. Way back in my Harry Potter roleplaying days.

24. Favorite place to play- musebox, open posts, public games, private games?: I don't really have a preference. I've not played in a musebox, but all the others have been fine with me.

25. Talking RP with someone else who plays your character- fun or awkward?: The trick is finding someone else who has played the characters I've played. :(

art, roleplay, meirin, kimba, damned
