Damn, that concert was awesome.

My sister and I arrived at about 7:30 PM and the line was fucking long. By the time we managed to get inside the festival grounds, it was just before 8PM and the Cannabinoids were playing. Really nice stuff. At 8, they stopped and it seemed that their session was over, but about 5 minutes later they came back up, this time with Erykah Badu. They jammed for about 10 or so minutes, and, fuck, it was good. I've never heard her stuff before, and hip-hop and jazz are really not my thing, but I ended up loving it. I'm considering getting some of her music. Hrm.

At about 8:30, Explosions in the Sky finally came on stage. They had some issues with the first three songs, though. It seemed that the guitars weren't really hooked up so well. There was one point where all we heard was the drums. People were screaming, "WTF". I was too. I was bitching about their techs.

They didn't play my three favorite songs. That's okay, they're long and mostly quiet, so it wouldn't have registered very well in an outdoors concert.

What I did love, though, was the end. At the climax of their last song, fireworks went off, and the band was moving in unison, thrashing on their guitars with the fireworks going off behind them. It was a sight. Everything came together, and it was beautiful and fitting. Fireworks = Explosions in the Sky. YES.

The fireworks kept going for about 10 minutes. During which everyone was screaming for, "ONE MORE SONG". They didn't come back up for one more, but that was okay. I would've loved it if they did come back for an encore, though.

Dammit, I wanna see them perform again.
