Ahoy! Manatee off the port bough!

I took a walk to recharge my solar batteries and I was walking in my backyard which is Whitaker Bayou, a brackish(salt and freshwater water) estuary. I was walking just past the condo pool along the river when I saw what I thought was a huge fish and then I saw the head coming up for air and the big flat round tail. So I was extremely stoked. This is the second sighting of wild manatees I've had while living her. The first time was in may/june 2006 and I saw a mother nudge her calf up to breathe it's first breathes and to swim for an hour until they swam back out toward Sarasota bay.

I really wish I got a picture, but I didn't bring my camera, DOH! It's too rare encounter, considering they're endangered species.
