Life.

Hello everyone. Bet you thought I'd gone and dropped off the map, huh?

Life decided to give me  equal parts yummy lemonade and a heaping bucket of rotten lemons. My business is going well, hoping to get into a market soon so I can have some steady work as opposed to the random orders I get at the moment. But I have been getting good reviews and return customers so I'm moving up in the cookie world!

On the other hand, I just found out that my best friend, my companion of 11 years, my Chipper (black lab/pitbull mix and the sweetest old grumpster you'll ever find) had a large tumor that grew and split his liver and he is slowly bleeding to death from the inside. Luckily he's not in too much pain, but he has days when he can barely lift his head and can't take more than a few steps before he can't hold himself up and has to lay down for at least an hour before he tries again.

I've been with my dog for longer than I've know most of my closest friends. He was with me while I was dealing with my parent's divorce, all the way through high school, college and my various jobs. he's the first person I say hello to when I walk in the door or wake up in the morning, even if it's just because I accidentally step on him while blindly searching for my alarm clock. When I leave a room for more than five minutes, he'll come searching for me and gives me the stink eye for making him get up from his warm spot.

I do have to say, my dog is ridiculously resilient. The vet gave him some blood clotting pills to slow the bleeding that he has to take every eight hours. We started with 2 boxes (about 4-5 days worth), then had to go pick up more. Then again to pick up more. Finally they gave us 6 boxes. I had to go find the pill for a cheaper price in Chinatown and get 5 more boxes, because he's determined to stick around and see how much we'll spoil him.

I love my dog so much, you guys. I remember getting the call tat they couldn't do anything. I was in the middle of filling an order of cupcakes. And let me tell you, it is really hard to measure accurately while sobbing. Not pretty. But I can be strong as long as he's around, being the bravest doggie I've ever seen.

Sorry for the less than happy post, but I miss this place. Sadly, the inspiration to write or draw is a little dry right now. I'll be writing bits here and there, hanging around here more often. LJ always cheers me up.

Anybody have any fun pet stories to share? Post 'em! I'd love to hear about them, and cute pictures are always a plus! I'll see if I can find a good picture of my dog and post it. I think we have one of his head blocking the Grand Canyon from view.
