in which I ramble about my lifelong love for a children's video game

I think I have a problem with Pokemon. I find myself playing Platinum and Soul Silver for hours on end sometimes, especially late into the night (as in, 4am late). hurrrrr
(Though not so much Soul Silver atm. I was up to the Elite Four but had to turn my ds off in order to edit the Wifi settings for the game - and because it never saves properly, being played off an R4 flashcard and all, it reverted back to where I had saved it outside Lugia's cave for some reason. Which is cool bro because when I was trying to capture Lugia it KILLED ITSELF. So now I can try again. And again and again and again because it KEEPS KILLING ITSELF and I waste dozens of pokeballs on it; pokeballs that never WORK.)

I found a website where you can custom make whatever pokemon you want and send it through wifi to your game (as well as give them any item to hold, yes, including master balls). Being serious here - you can make a level 1 magikarp that knows like, hyperbeam if you wanted to. So I created a Seedot with it, since I've always wanted a Shiftry (is it just me, or does Shiftry look almost exactly like Abassador Alba from Ace Attorney Investigations?) and you can only legitimately find Seedot in Ruby and Sapphire. But now I feel awful that I have a hacked pokemon, and it doesn't feel the same as raising my own, so I don't think I'll end up using him. :( Even though I sent him though at level one and raised him to about thirty (and, well, I did give him an almost impossible moveset).
I might try and ask on pokewifi if anyone could send me a legit one. I'm also looking for a legit Shuppet, Absol and Spheal (and a wholllee bunch of others, mostly from the Hoenn region because Hoen is my favourite).

On the topic of pokeyman, what are your favourites, individual and by type?
I'm super fond of the ghost/psychic/dark, and I have a tradition of choosing fire starters for every game, ever since Red and Blue (although this may break with Black and White since Mijimaru is adorable and while I hated him at first I love him now, especially since his final evo is great. Haters gonna hate amirite). Least favourite is Bug - not because I don't like bugs, I love them, it's just that I have this stigma on them, thinking they're stupidly weak (probably since I've always had fire starters). I don't particularly like rock/ground much and it seems I always end up without a good Flying, Water or Grass pokemon when near the end of the game.

As for individual favourites I love Gengar, Alakazam, Absol, Banette, all the fire starters, Gyarados, Vileplume, Emonga, Mewtwo and a bunch more. I'm pretty selective in what Pokemon I catch (I don't want to catch them all, I just want to train the coolest mons into badass beasts) and I usually go through the game with only three or four permanent team members, until I decide on who else I want.
