Starch Redundancy

One of the new shows from last fall "The Big Bang Theory" has become a favorite for R and me.  It's totally geeky, the main characters are hilarious with the science and gaming and comic references.  Which if you aren't into any of that, you might not enjoy it as much...but for me?  I totally GET all those references!  I already KNOW about Schrodinger's Cat, so when they talk about it I know the implications of the joke they're selling.

Now there are some things that I thought were just jokes between R and I.  But apparently Chuck Lorre has tapped into the same humor stream, because on the last episode of the season, at one point Sheldon (the funniest one in my opinion) says to Leonard that the mashed potatoes and stuffing he is about to eat for lunch are a "starch redundancy".

We have joked about this for years after a friend's girlfriend once told us that we couldn't have potato salad and corn for a picnic/bbq because it would mean we would have two starches.  You can't have double starches she said.  So it's been our joke ever since.   When  it was said on this show, R had to pause the tv because we were both laughing so hard.

I don't really have a point for this blog except that I really like the show and appreciate that things in MY life are reflected in it.  Check it out if you have a chance.  My fellow geeks...I promise you will not regret it...
