Из России: Третьий Эпизод

Hello all!
In the past week or so, much has happened:

Hermitage - Amazing. Beautiful building and some interesting art, but also a lot of things I didn't care for, mainly the modern, impressionist and cubist, stuff.

Savior on The Spilled Blood - A church built in the traditional Russian style. When Tsar Alexander II was assasinated, his son, Alexander III, ordered the church to be built in his father's honor. The church was built on the spot where he died and was built around a square meter of cobblestones, on which the Tsar had died. (I believe his dried blood was left on the stones until sometime in the Soviet era when churches were desecrated on a regular basis.) Also, there are only funerals in this church, never marraiges or normal services.

*Not Recommended* Kunst Kammer (Russian's call it the Kunstkammera) - Peter I's (The Great) original public exhibition of "science". By science they mean fetuses in jars. The idea was to show people all these abnormal growths and strange looking people. Interesting on a cultural level, but ultimately disturbing.

Peter & Paul Fortress - Really beautiful cathedral in the middle where all the Tsars are buried and interesting history. Was not able to visit the museum that was once a major political prison. Oh, and the cannon fires a blank at exactly noon every day.

Eugene (Evgeniy) Onegin - Badly done, but an amazing piece of Russian culture.

It looks like I'm being abandoned here at the internet cafe by my friends, so I'll see you all soon!

Tito
