First, a few words on the link in my previous entry. It's the site for a movie that has been put together over the past three years by one guy, working in his basement, with no professional technical training, completely self-taught, and is composed of a combination of stop-motion animation, 3D graphics and retro styled 2D graphics. The trailer on the site is a pretty hefty download, so you might have better luck checking it out here on YouTube.com. I think this is genius. This is art. If the full film is half as brilliant as the trailer. The sheer amount of work that has gone into it, you can tell just by looking at the trailer and thinking about it, is mind boggling.
Today I bought myself a graphics tablet, (an Wacom Intuos3 6x8 specifically). It's something i've wanted for a long time but considered far too much of a luxury to be worth the money. Well, a few days ago about six hundred bucks mysteriously appeared in my bank account...I'm pretty sure it's my vacation pay from the last year with Securitas. I completely forgot that I had it coming, so I didn't have it accounted for in my budgeting for the next little while, so it was kind of like free money. What better opportunity to splurge on some crazy thing I'd never normally buy?
So I got it, and played with it all day, and I freaking love it. It's like being able to sketch around by hand, except inside Photoshop, where I have all the various brushes and tools to play around with at the same time.
I been watching alot of movies lately, on account of I don't have a social life. There's a great store near here, Flixx, awesome selection ranging from mainstream stuff to weird and obscure, 3 non-new release rentals for 4 days for $5. It's great cause with three choices for so cheap, I can get something weird and obscure, something cheesy and actiony, and something intellectual all at the same time.
I'M GONNA GO WATCH A ZOMBIE MOVIE RIGHT NOW. It's called Zombie (It's not the famous Italian one. I think it was Italian). None of the actors names are on the cover, because no one has ever heard of them, or this movie, before! This looks like a winner.
