Overdue, i guess
Well, here I am.. half asleep.. feeling like ehhhh and updating my journal. I have that itchy eye, scratch throat feeling that usually accompanies the begining of some sort of cold. and i HATE being sick... although better now than a few weeks from now. We had a nice service tonight for the eve of the Nativity of the Mother of God. the choir was nice 9 of us altogether. We sang some nice selections, including the Canon of the Feast by Arkangelsky (tone 2). For most feast days, we sing all the stichera settings by B.M. Ledkovsky, as published on the ROCM.org website. The melodies are the Znamenny chant with very nice harmonizations under them. It is by no means simple to sing, but nice for holidays, so long as you have the singers. There will probably be just a few of us tomorrow morning for liturgy, but it should still be nice.
We had a nice visit this past weekend by a few young ladies from the parish in Ann Arbor, MI. We are planning a 'Young Adult Retreat' for Thanksgiving weekend (what else is there to do after all that turkey). more info coming.
