Quandary

Yesterday, for my birthday, I bought myself Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

Not quite finished it yet, but I am enjoying it greatly. As is my habit with things I enjoy, I set out to get an overview of the things I like and discovered that the author is quite aggressively homophobic (He is a Mormon and my previous encounters with members of the LDS church have led me to believe that this is a general fault of the religion) which manifests in the most obvious way as supporting the abolition and constitutional banning of gay marriage.

This goes directly against my beliefs in fairness, equality and human rights and makes me feel a little uncomfortable while reading the book, enjoying it while I know that somewhere in the subtext there may well be some agenda which I consider obscene and inhuman.

Weird and difficult to deal with.
