I'm guessing you're asking about how to post to a community, since it doesn't look like you have any on your friends list yet.
Go to http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=kittypix and at the top, click the link where it says, "To join this community, click here". I can't remember if it's one of the communities that the moderator has set up so that they have to approve new members or not, but if so, after you confirm, you should get an e-mail within a day or so saying that your membership has been accepted. If not, it'll go through immediately. I'm not sure if you use a separate client to post or just the browser, but when you update your journal, select "kittypix" from the pull-down menu that selects where you post. LJ labels the menu as, "Post to," but clients like Semagic sometimes label it as, "journal".
Anyway, the post itself will be just like the one you put in your journal. Although, if you post big pictures, some of the people might request that you use an LJ-cut to save bandwidth. If you're not sure how to do that, it's just .
