Step one: Apology, Step two: New bones to gnaw, Step three: ? Step four: profit

First and foremost, it has come to my attention that some of my commentary and posts are inflammatory.

While this is partially by design, it's not intended to really cross lines or get people (including myself) on "watch lists" by certain agencies I've had a real time gnashing at.

These are my beliefs and anyone who has known me for any length of time knows that really my first belief (i.e. Rule A)is that humanity will take it's course in the manner it decides to. Here? My posted replies elsewhere? Those are my opinions and my venting, but I really do expect people to either ignore them or just discuss them.

I talk. No, actually, I just type. I try to avoid extended periods of talking because my voice isn't used to it and I start to get hoarse rather quickly.

I hold freedom of speech very near and dear to my heart and I'm glad that I can mostly say what I feel about the path this country has taken, my disappointment, my anger at what I see as the actual ideals and purpose behind this country being trampled... but I only say it, and by saying it I feel better and continue on as it dissipates back to manageable levels.

If I have caused problems elsewhere I offer this sincere apology. I really am sorry. It was not my intent.

Step Two:

Bones to gnaw on.

(C'mon, you didn't really think I'd make three posts in a row with no actual ranting involved, did you?)

Adobe.

The word has a couple of meanings. It could be the clay/sand mixture used as a construction material...

Or it could be a company that makes questionable support decisions for acquired products like Flash.

Yes, Adobe Flash (formerly known as Shockwave Flash, Macromedia Flash and back in the early years of the mob: Machine Gun Baby Scarface Flash) is the topic of this rant.

It seems that Adobe (in their infinite wisdom) has decided that Flash is only useful as a web browser plugin. At least, that's the way they make it seem with almost everything pointing you to the "newest version of Flash player" which is a 1.8 MB (for I.E. and AOL) or 2 MB (for most other web browsers) downloadable plugin that doesn't even have a local control panel, you have to use the flash based control panel on the Adobe website to adjust your settings... also it seems that if you have a stand alone flash based application where the local flash environment has a problem: you're out of luck if you need support for it. after some searching I was able to find "Archived Flash Player Versions" (which I'm hoping ONE of them will fix my problems with a stand alone flash based application) but they were very clear that none of these archived versions are supported, only the webplayer enjoys any adobe love.

Thanks Adobe... this actually does make sense... for whenever Microsoft's forecast that the localized operating system bound to a set of hardware will become obsolete sometime in the future.

Until such time as I manage to download the 100 MB Flash Player v9 and the 24 MB standalone Flash Player v10 on dialup... does anyone know why a stand alone flash app would respond properly to remote operations but fail to render or accept local flash calls? sure would be nice to fix...
