Yet another political rant, as I'm so wont to do

AND I LIVE AGAIN! I know, I start all my posts that way, but here I am again!

Well ladies, gents, therians, animals of all shapes sizes and hamburgers... it's that time again for this lone jackal to rant about yet another thing that came from the minds of those I think should have long since buried their heads in shame.

First, I'll mention that there's a blog out there I don't have permission to link to (nor have I asked) that has posted about Iran "digitally enhancing" their recent rocket launch photos.
Okay, I kinda understand this as "UGH! ME STRONG! SEE ALL MY TOYS FLY AND MAKE YOU HURT!" It really kinda makes sense as it's one form of propaganda. Guess what... propaganda happens.

Think of it kinda like a natural function of the body politic (I'll leave it to you to determine which natural function it correlates as, but I definitely wouldn't use any of the more pleasant functions.)

This however (as many of my posts) is a rant.

The rant (again, as many of my posts) is against stupid people and how their stupidity reflects upon the rest of us.

It's not aimed at the blog itself, nor is it aimed at the blogger for posting it. It's aimed at the generally loud, obnoxious and generally misinformed or brain dead rhetoric regurgitating populace commenting on this one in particular.

One that comes instantly to mind when I was reading it before I got thoroughly disgusted with the average commenter was one who said that the middle eastern countries "should ask the US for Patriot Anti-missile missiles."

Excuse me?

They meant the Patriot Anti Missile Weapon System, obviously, but that's me being a stickler for details. Aside from it being a major weapon system for the US that while by comparison is highly accurate isn't up to the original propaganda that was released during Desert Storm (where it was purported to have an accuracy of 90% or higher... it was later shown to be far less then that, I believe around 72-80%.) They're expensive to provide and... oooh... here's a shocker... WE'RE NOT VERY WELL LIKED AND WE KNOW IT! We gave away some F-14s a good while back and almost instantly regretted it... needless to say, weapons technology isn't really a good thing to just go handing out to countries where one can't be sure they won't be turned against us in a year or so.

Something that was posted by many people and quite often in there was the phrase "The United States and their offshore colony Israel...."

As almost anyone who reads this journal knows: I'm a polytheist and proud of it.
So you can be assured my faith/religion doesn't influence my following statement.

I find that phrase and those like it to be inflammatory and offensive because I don't think Israel really NEEDS us. Is it mutually beneficial for us to be allied? I dunno, but I'd like to think so.

You know what I'd have liked to have seen in the commentary?

Moderate posts, one or two liberal US posts rather than conservative currently administration party line "STAY THE COURSE!" mentalities... posts from people in other countries (which collectively I know there are far more of you out there than just US citizens) who realized and posted acknowledging that they KNEW the course in Iraq and Afghanistan is rather unpopular here. People that RECOGNIZE the government officials we elect are only the ones we have a choice from because of financial limitations to the public and ability to campaign.

Someone who wasn't a citizen of the US to show a mentality that didn't follow either the "stay the course" mentality or the "You're American, so you're just a bully. A piece of possibly even subhuman trash."

I don't support the course of action our government has chosen... but I DO support the troops as they're doing their job... and their job is a hard one... one I don't think they should have been sent on but they have to see through.

I've rambled and said more than I should have most likely... I just want people to start thinking for themselves for a change... is that too much to ask?
