Who: Boomer & whoever he happens to bump into, there's people around! Where: Residential zone When: Yesterday. No! Today! RIGHT NOW! What: Neighborhood watch Warnings: No. At least, there shouldn't be.
Lizor was out on one of his many restless wanderings, unable to find any recharge during his rest cycle. He had plenty to calculate on, especially to do with Aadi...and what he had learned as well as fresh newly integrated memories to process over.
As normal, he never really gave much thought on where he was going - just letting his feet take him wherever. In this case - he happened to be wandering through a neighboring residential sector by the looks of it. Programs wandered here and there but it was quiet for the most part. The motion of walking helped him process over the multiple data streams going on in his head.
The disc warrior was so deep into his calculating that when he reached a corner and proceeded to turn - he nearly walked into a wall. He bumped slightly and jerked back - looking up at the face above him. It was another program - and one he didn't readily recognize.
Blinking - he stepped back a couple paces - stance guarded but not aggressive. His peripheral senses pinged back a resonance from this other man's energy signature. Face unreadable - he eyed the other, it was like they were related somehow in some way.
Boomer had chuckled at the rebound, catching Lizor's shoulder lightly for a moment to steady him, though letting go easily as the other program backed off, "Steady on, there."
He shook his head, smiling crookedly, "Usually get that reaction before the actual rebound. You alright there, Program?" His voice matched the rest of him, a warm baritone rumble with a slight accent.
Lizor sensed no threat - instead finding the other program rather warm and welcoming in demeanor. Along with that energy resonance, he had the feeling that this one would be able to be trusted. The taller program had just caught him off guard, which had set his combat subroutines on edge.
Working on calming them down - he straightened, relaxing his stance with a curt nod. "I am undamaged." He affirmed. "I was just caught off guard while wandering. I apologize for disturbing you." He said calmly and rather polite. A part of him was rather affronted at himself for being caught unawares in the first place - when normally he was always so -aware- of his surroundings.
He chuckled again, giving a rolling shrug, "I wouldn't worry about it none, ain't often I go unnoticed. You were thinking hard."
He offered a hand then, "Name's Boomer, neighborhood watch." Occasionally he still introduced himself as City Watch, but for the most part now it was the smaller area.
Lizor hesitated at the offered hand, but soon enough he reached out and grasped it tightly in a hand. He found himself kind of amused at the fact that this program's hand nearly swallowed his own. He was so used to thinking of himself as physically intimidating to most...but this guy beat him in the physical department. He wondered if he'd met this program before...or if he competed in the Games when they weren't corrupt.
"Lizor." He said simply by way of introduction - sending a ping of greeting through his palm. "I tend to wander on rest cycles. Helps me process."
"Nothing wrong with that." He said, cocking his head, almost another shrug on its own, "Bit of a walk's good for the old processors. S'what I'm doing out here, besides keeping an eye on things of course."
He scratched the back of his neck, "You been here a while, yeah? Not one of the newbies falling out of the portal, right?"
Lizor shook his head briefly. "No...and maybe.." He added with a slight quirk of a brow. "Technically I was originally created over a thousand cycles ago. However - I was derezzed in a match of Disc Wars during Clu's corrupted Games. I rerezzed this past cycle due to the odd behavior of the Portal."
Even he didn't know exactly how long ago he had been written. He had been meaning to make another trip to the Arena or the Archives to see if he could dig up such information.
He nodded at that explanation, "About what happened to my own self." A smile followed, "Portal's gone and made things a bit unpredictable, but I kind of like it that way." It was true, really, the unpredictability was just further proof, as far as he was concerned, that things were on the mend.
Lizor tilted his head slightly - eyeing the other again, but not with suspicion this time. Curiosity. "You played in the Games? My...memories are not without some damage..." Ha! Some.. "..so I do not recall competing against you before." The disc warrior had a tone of polite apology in his voice.
Then again, with how the Portal was glitching - Boomer could be from an entirely different Grid. Where he himself did not exist. Lizor tried not to think on that too much. Made his processors ping errors at him.
Curious, how a Basic would favor unpredictability. Though then again - even though as a Basic he did enjoy routine...Lizor enjoyed a bit of spice too. Perhaps that was one of many reasons why he wandered. Or enjoyed combat.
He shook his head, "Played a time or two back at the beginning, figure most of us in security did." A rolling shrug, "Generally won by default." There weren't many that wanted to go against him, and he was fine with that.
"When things went wrong, I got conscripted into the Guard, the glitch might've been cunning, but brute force wasn't something he had a whole lot of on his own."
A small quirk flitted on Lizor's lips as he looked up at the program. For a few nano's - he felt a brief rush of wanting to have a friendly match against him. Just to see what he had...but then reality set in...and he had to quickly suppress the anxiety that was threatening to rise.
"Perhaps someday, when I feel ready to compete again - we will meet across the playing field." Lizor said quietly with a slow nod, with hinted respect.
However - his eyes changed slightly at the mention of the Guard. Conscripted? "You were conscripted...forced...into the Black Guard?" Lizor asked a little sharply before he could control himself. "Rectified?" He added quieter...line of his body tense.
He nodded in reply, looking just a little grim, "Exactly that." Another rolling shrug then, "Corrupted code got repaired by way of a derezz when the command ship went down. And then I ended up here, figured I might as well take up the old position, since nobody else'd filled it while I was gone."
Lizor eyed the security program more warily now - though he consciously knew that his data wasn't corrupt anymore. His combat subroutines tended to make him rather edgy. It was hard to control.
"So you....remember everything? From before?" He murmured quietly, face somber. He tried to work at calming his combat instincts down - reflecting on the fact that the resonance of Boomer's energy was similar enough to his that he shouldn't have to worry. But still. Flickers of memory - when he was being forcibly beaten and dragged by multiple Black Guard to the interrogation chambers did not leave him so soon. It had been unfortunately one of the first memories he'd integrated since his rerezz.
Another nod, still looking grim, "Most of it, yeah." He shook his head then, "Sometimes think it'd be better if I didn't, usually figure it's better that I do. Means I'm less likely to let it happen again." That was his theory, anyway, and usually he could stick with that theory.
Another shrug, having eased back slightly to give Lizor space, "Most people 'round here don't know what I did, and I'm not proud of it."
Lizor watched Boomer's face carefully as the other spoke - his own dark angled eyes very intense and calculating. Focused on detecting any untruth. Sensing nothing but honesty he nodded slowly.
"I can understand....somewhat." Lizor said finally, voice clipped - though not as sharp as before. "I was forced to become something I was not proud of either. Though I was not rectified as a Guard. Judged too damaged from Clu's hospitality.." He said the former administrator's name with barely concealed hatred.
"I was tossed into the Games expected to be executed in the first round. Well...I managed to survive way longer than that - taking my only satisfaction that I managed to be a glitch in Clu's side for so many cycles." His voice had risen - and he quickly shut his mouth, a muscle twitching in his jaw as he worked on regaining his calm.
Boomer had nothing to do with this - at least he hoped not. The program had rerezzed like he had...and his allegiance to Clu - forced or not - had died along with his deresolution. Lizor had no right to take out his fury on a security program that obviously meant well.
"I apologize.." He muttered finally, averting his eyes as the tension left him - causing him to slouch a little. "I have no quarrel with you. You did not cause what happened to me." Frankly it surprised him that he just - blurted everything like that. Maybe it had something to do with the energetic resonance he felt so strongly from the other program.
He shook his head, clasping Lizor's shoulder again, just for a moment, giving him a gentle shake, "You got nothing worth apologizing for, friend, sounds to me like you had a harder time of it than most."
He tilted his head then, studying the other program for a moment, "Think I remember you. Some of the Guard had bets going on how long you'd last and you just kept surprising them."
