So I went out in the heat and moseyed up the road to where the sirens were coming from. I'm nosy, what can I say. Things had calmed down by the time I got there, but holy crap. It looks like a riot happened in front of the pizza joint. Broken glass, cars with dents and gouges, and a big smear of I-don't-know-what on the pavement. No wonder my co-worker had to leave work today; he went up there for lunch and came back looking like death beat up and warmed over. Cops still cleaning things up...and not just cops. I saw a small handful of soldiers helping with the clean up, and then I was told in no uncertain terms by a very stressed-out MP that I needed to go back to wherever I came from if I knew what was good for me. WTF, over?
As I was walking back, I realized that I was the only one out walking. That sidewalk on Parker tends to be pretty busy, with all the bus stops and restaurants and stuff nearby. Maybe it's the heat, keeping people inside? Or maybe the DART is having a labor strike or something, because I didn't see any buses running either.
Something about this day is getting my hackles up.
ETA: My mom just called. The connection was all staticky, and all I could make out was, "Are you alright? My boss just told us something was going on in--" The phone died after that. Now the thing can't find a network.
Still nothing on the news. My mom's boss is the warden at a state prison, so she'd be tuned in even if the media were in the dark. 'Something's going on...'
But what?
