Hog Heaven and ESPN Hell

Nov 23, 2007 16:55

After a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner yesterday I had the wonderful pleasure of sleeping in today and then getting up to watch the LSU vs. Arkansas game.  As many of you may know, West Virginia is currently ranked 3 and needs one or both of the top 2 teams to lose to make it to the National Title game.  So I was interested to watch 1 LSU on the off chance that an unranked Arkansas team MIGHT be able to give them a game even though it was at LSU.

Well they did more than give them a game, they beat them in triple overtime!  That was one of the best college football games I've seen all year and the outcome means West Virginia is virtually assured of a berth in the BCS Championship IF they can beat Connecticut and Pitt.  They have both games at home and (knock on wood) SHOULD be able to do just that.  Go Mountaineers!

So tomorrow's game between 3 West Virginia and 20 Connecticut is now not only for the Big East title but for West Virginia's chance at the national championship.  It was moved to 3:30 (eastern) for TV reasons, and so I was assuming I would get to watch it.  I mean, what other game could possibly be bigger tomorrow in that time slot, as 2 Kansas taking on 4 Missouri doesn't happen til 8 eastern?

According to the brilliant "regional coverage" assholes at ESPN and ABC, there are two more important games to watch tomorrow.  The first is UCLA vs. Oregon which I can at least live with being on ABC, fine, so long as the BIG game then goes to ESPN2.  But no.  Guess what we have on ESPN 2?

Kansas State vs. Fresno State.

No, you didn't read that wrong.  Kansas State, with a whopping record of 5-6, taking on freaking Fresno State with their impressive 6-4 record (in the freaking WAC!).  Hanging in the balance...nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  And no one out here is even a Fresno State fan anyway.  I don't think there is any such thing.  K-State vs. Fresno State?!

Shame on you, ESPN/ABC Sports/Walt Disney/whatever the hell you are now.  I've already written to express my discontent, but I urge everyone who reads this blog to do the same thing!  I've even made it easy on you.  Just follow the link:

Tell them what asses they are!

And Let's Go Mountaineers!
