We are in the center of a territorial battle of avians. Our house is protected by a very active family of Red Tailed Hawks, but lately a new young male Broad Wing Hawk has decided to start hanging around. Today he attacked our bird-feeders out front. This is quite a large bird and enough so that even our cat would be in danger and she knows it, so she came in and hid under my chair during his little visit today.
The owls in the neighborhood aren't too happy with this guy either and this is getting rather noisy...
The new guy just ate one of our smaller birds and a chipmunk today. He's a pig.
EDIT - Closer studies seem to show this guy to be a Cooper's Hawk and not a Broad Wing. Cooper's are larger and have a longer tail. This guy's tail is fairly long and barred. This means he has more growth in him.
