Ok. I have a second. I had to get up at 3:00 a.m. yesterday (along with Cody) to have Mom picked up by 5:15-5:30 a.m. and have her at the hospital at 6:15 a.m. She had surgery at 7:30 a.m. to replace both knees. It was suppose to take 4 hours it wound up taking 5 1/2 hours because of some complications. They gave her an epidural and it didn't work. So there were some complications with getting her under. By the time they were done and she was in the room it was close to 2:00 p.m. We got to her room and she was withering in pain cussing like a sailor. I went to get the nurse who told me they had just hooked up a demorol drip and it would take more than one dose to help with the pain (she could only press it every 6 minutes). I had to leave to go have my eyes checked (a BIG waste of time and now I have to go back-another long story and NO I'm not getting into it). So I left Cody with her to take care of anything she needed. When I got back Cody said they came in and discovered she was pressing the demorol drip wrong. They showed him how to do it and also showed him how to make her do this breathing machine thing. She was in and out so much. One of her half way lucid moments she begged me to let Cody stay with her that night. He seemed to keep her calm and the sailor potty mouth wasn't as bad as long as he was at her beck and call. Cody really wanted to stay as well, he was very worried about her being alone.
I left about 7:30 p.m. and headed home. I got there after 8:00 p.m. dead on my feet. I ate a little bit and passed out on the couch sometime after 9:30. I got up this morning about 5:45 a.m. and got ready for work.
I stopped by the hospital around 11:20 a.m. this morning and checked on them. I brought Cody some clean clothes and his toothbrush and stuff. They had started Mother on a rehab machine and bends her knees and she was hollering for more pain meds. But she WAS more lucid today than yesterday. They are suppose to make her stand and try to walk today. GOOD LUCK DOCS!
When I leave work today I'm heading back up there. This is all I know for now. WHEW! I'm tired.
