"Pens!"

Feb 16, 2010 12:21

Silis7noy2 has posted translations of some fan accounts of the fan signing (and there are some pics here of YuRi and SooYoung) and I'm so glad to be reading about some Hyo!love, especially since it balances out my eyebrow-raising at some other more general SNSD fandom stuff I've been tracking. XD In the following excerpts, emphasis mine:

Hyo is easy to please )

chinchin radio, hello baby, translation, snsd

If I had a chance to meet Hyo one day, I'll buy her the cutest set of stickers. :D And maybe ask for a hug instead of handshake in exchange of the stickers. :D

I love how she tease the fan who ask for high-fives too. And from reading HYJ's summary of ChinChin, you can sense that Hyo really treasure her family and relatives, how she is so close with her younger cousins (no doubt, she's one of the kids) and love her grandparents too. Maybe that's one reason why she had to travel 4 hours a day from Incheon to Seoul in her trainee days instead of staying at the dorm like Taeng.

Still have no luck finding ChinChin audio file. :( And a bit disappoint at ChinChin pics for one reason . . . I want HyoTae being dorky together! Is it hard to add another person in the pics? ;___;

By the way, have you seen SNSD comic new chapter yet?

http://soshified.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36239

It's funny and all but I feel a bit sad to see the writer switches from individually writing 3 chapters for each members to general chapters that focus all members . . . just after s/he finished writing all the chapters of the Big Five + Sunny. What a way to welcome HyoSooSeo's year! XD

Re: Cross Game. I haven't read the ending yet but looks like the ending of your favorite manga disappoint you again? Previously Monster, now Cross Game. Well, though I haven't read it yet, I can guess what the ending looks like. Adachi's works often end the same way, not something epic or memorable except Rough which I consider has one of the most classic ending of all the manga I read. :) But if you love Cross Game, just check another works of Adachi too (you might want to avoid other baseball centric like Touch or H2, it can be repetitive) it's worth. Or you can start watching/reading some anime or manga I recommend you before, just because I said so. (And I'll throw another titles at you again. LOL) :P

Taeyeon was sick, that is why she didn't take photos.

Ah, thank you. Poor Taengoo.

LOL, Hyo's such a kid. XD I feel like she needs a good sketching notebook, some nice paper to put all her fashion terrorism onto.

I noticed that she had mentioned gathering at her grandfather's again. XD It must definitely be a yearly thing and then all her little cousins probably give her all their monitoring tips! ROFL I think HYJ said that Hyo said on SuKiRa that Hyo didn't want to stay in the dorms, which suggests the option was open to her but she decided not to take it, despite having a 4-hour total commute.

I just put in a request for 2.15.10 ChinChin radio at SSF, so maybe someone can help us out? Desperation! I didn't even see the ChinChin pics yet! Let's see . . . Aw, no Taeng in them at all. But I like the first one with Hyo looking like she just did something mischievous. XD

I was disappointed with the SNSD comic for a completely different reason: it seems like the artist is saying that for the past two years Hyo has done nothing that deserved to be made into a comic until that moment. It was like the HyoYeon Blind Spot writ large and I had to back away from it. The above fan accounts helped.

I wasn't really disappointed with the ending of CC; I always predicted it to end the way it did (the game, the relationship tie ups). If I do feel some disappointment, it's that the emotional journey still feels somewhat truncated to me rather than spun out to its full completion. It's definitely a story that makes you go "What next?" in a way that's similar to Monster (and I was told a good story always makes you want to know more). For me, the journey was always the important part of reading CC--I wish I could write something so beautifully woven, able to explore emotional and relational complexities and deliver on the medium that allows that exploration (the baseball, here). It's really quite beautiful.

Thank god! I'm not alone! I just finished posting my thoughts on it.

I thought maybe it was just me being a nitpicky or something. I just couldn't help rolling my eyes after reading it.

You know, at first I'd like to complain about that too, then decided not to because other his/her works of other membrs also contain many of the girls' recent works like HB, IY (so the writer might not try to dig old materials that much.) But, yes, that opening conversation is painful . . . the "there isn't anything interesting about HyoYeon?" part. Cause if you just pay a bit more attention, this girl will give you thousand gags to write about.

Ah, that's like H2 I think, the incomplete journey. But CC? You mean CG (Cross Game)? Or is there anything I don't know about?

I think it wasn't just that, but that, really, it was an honest, HyoYeon mistake. HyoYeon has done so many other funny things deliberately that to make this seem deliberate was odd to me--especially since I think part of Hyo's charm is that these unexpected, unplanned mistakes she makes are genuine and point to her oddball nature. Hyo being calculating is usually pretty fail; it's her spontaneity and the way her lack of filters usually plays out in combination with her blunt honesty (i.e. being able to admit to her mistakes or just being so unexpected straightforward) that really mark her character.

LOL, yes, CG. I don't know why I was writing CC (which could be Chrono Crusade or the game Chrono Cross, rofl).

I know what you mean. But of what I see from his/her older works (other girls' chapters.) S/he rarely focus on the girls' real personalities, mostly pick some famous traits or habits (like Sica hates cucumber or KyungSan always cries when Fany is around) but never touch deeper to their real personalities or what the girls will react in certain situation in real life. So it's more about gags and jokes here and there and I can accept that. The only problem for me is that opening conversation which could be done differently (but looking at how s/he deliver the story, I can see why s/he put it like that.)

It left a poor taste in my mouth and if I have to work my brain to defend it and what it did, it's not a good sign to me.

That said, I just noticed that the one account had an unni asking Hyo to write "honey" in her message: perhaps the "go gay for Hyo" sentiment does exist in some form in Korea, albeit probably never expressed that way. HrrrrRRRmmmm.

Huh? The one who asked Hyo to write "honey" is donsaeng fan isn't it? (cause she called Hyo "unni") Anyway, it means that GGFH movement could exist. XD And that unni fan who gave her big flower and a set of pens is love. I love how Hyo just yelled out "Pens!" and poking at it. Oh, this kid. <3

LOL, yes, dongsaeng fan--my reading and writing comprehension is sorely lacking today. D: Anyway, it was the "unni" that caught my eye and that made me raise an eyebrow (and now I think it's even funnier that a girl younger than Hyo was asking to be referred to as "honey" by her--and regretted not calling into the radio show?! The first time I read through that account, my brain had blocked the "unni" and figured the fan was a boy, but this just made me LOL so much once I realized what I was reading).

I was touched by Hyo being touched to receive that flower, like she hadn't expected it at all or that she had expected someone else to be the recipient. *pets Hyo*

I bet you she wanted to try those pens right away. XD

I love her spontaneous funny mistakes too.

Like the one here @ around 48 secs

and here @ about 43 secs

and here about 27 seconds

I just think its funny how she catches herself like 'wait no, hold on what was it again' LOL

Side note: My ECON professor just dismissed the class 15 mins early and when almost all the students were at the door his memory hit him that class time was not over and he made everyone come back. LOL He's getting old.

About that comic..... hyomona February 17 2010, 19:24:17 UTC
I felt like it was half-assed. Especially the ending. I'm just being honest. Little effort went into it IMO.

Most of the beginning was, 'What can we say about Hyo? She's not interesting blah blah....'

Maybe I'm just being a bitch but that's how I feel when people do stuff like SNSD individual artwork etc When they get to Hyo (and Soo/Seo) it seems like they just threw it together.

They should've just got one of the Hyohunnies to do it or give ideas for it IMO. It would've been funnier.

Again, I might be sounding like a betch but I still think I'm right.

But cudos to them for not including the dreaded fringe :)

THAT! I forgot to write about this. XD Thank God, no horrible fringe!

I actually wondered why the fringe wasn't included, lol. I hate it but a part of me that likes things to be accurate wonders why the fringe was replaced with one of her Hyo's saner hairstyles.
