WHERE IS A FANCAM WHEN YOU NEED IT, WHYYYY, EFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, CAMEEEEERAAAAAAAAA!
Dear Star Dance Battle PD,
I couldn't care less what the hell the celebrity audience thinks. I WANT TO SEE THE DANCING. ARGH @(#*WQ#(* *frothing at the mouth*
My first watch reactions, with later amendments in brackets [ ]:
1) Concert dance battle solos. That was definitely YoonA's solo and it's great but it's . . . idol great. I hate to say it! I've been watching ABDC the past three weeks and if I were Lil Mama I'd have similar comments for YoonA as she had for the Denver, Colorado chica who tried to lock not-so-great in the center of their formation. [Yoong was looking so good, though. Her expressions have improved so much and I'm glad she's settling more into a performing persona that fits a piece rather than being awk all over the place. Watching Uee was like watching Yoong of the past.]
2) Was this SooYoung's dance concert solo? Again, ABDC in me keeps wanting to scream, "Bring it, bring it, bring it, you have to bring it, oh God, don't pull a Beat Freaks!" If I were making a personal ranking of SNSD dancers, SooYoung would definitely be coming after YoonA with this showing.
3) HyoYeon! I definitely recognize Dance Battle solo stuff in there and the CAMERA KEPT CUTTING, WHY?! But I saw that flirty smile in there Hyo while you were sending that wave, hell yeah, that's the woman I want performing on stage! You better work! (Needed more smiles, though. Kid was coming out serious on that day.) [Hyo needs to clean up some of her lines here. That jacket just wasn't helping either. If there's someone's expressions I'd complain about in this performance, it'd actually be Hyo's. She was coming off flat in attitude. The technicality of her moves is great to watch, but she needed more swagger in her solo! She was very tight-lipped.]
4) I've been wondering if Hyo could transition into a style that did slow-fast moves like Kaba Modern's brand of isolations and . . . yes. I see it in small bits here and it makes me so sad I can't just stuff in her a room with dance teachers from all genres for like a year. JAEWON! Is this your work?! <3
5) It actually may have been a good choice not to send YuRi. This routine was not sex on a stick. It was much more swagger. If they were using Concert Dance Battle solos across the board, I think they would have needed to switch up Yul's routine and knowing how exhausted she's looked recently, I don't know if Yul would have been happy doing that. [But now I think perhaps they could have used Yul to reel in the audience in the sex selling. Hrm. There was some audience distance here that wasn't quite bridged. Yul, we needed some of those searing looks!]
6) I was so distracted I forgot to mention Seobaby! But Seobaby! When did you learn attitude?! SWAGGA! SeoHyun is definitely emerging as the SNSD dance wildcard. :O Although keeping this sort of dance line up (Hyo, Yul, Yoong, Syoung, Seo) really does mean that it's all the tall ones + Hyo. HAHAHAHAHA. [I love Seobaby's move at 1:30/1:31+, that wave she throws up through her arms! Seobaby does great waving with her arms! She was doing it a few times here.]
7) I wish the cameras didn't hate us so much because I really want to see the footwork and the synchronization of the group part! Interesting that SeoHyun is kind of here for show? LOL. "Unnis, you dance, I'll show up when needed." YoonA has improved so much in her expressions, thank God!
8) I was predicting the AS win. LOLOLOLOLOLOL. A win for SNSD at Star Dance Battle is more elusive than a mutizen or a daesang. XD
Oddly, it wasn't Hyo's solo that made me think "Hyo be a ballin' hip hop dancer" but this:
It's something as simple as the way she lifts her right foot here as she takes that small hop-leap; it's something you see hip hop dancers do all the time and it makes the move look light-footed. It actually caught my eye in the first watch-through and made me smile.
Awesome gifs are awesome by
fantasteak:
That jacket is killing me. D: But watch Hyo's ponytail bounce every time she hits a beat. <3
*bump bump* Only when that jacket was slipping off her shoulders was it looking good!
I got this by request, yesssssssss.
Alternate with all the members in the background. I hadn't even noticed that they were rising to their feet in a diagonal.
So many more GIFS OF AWESOME
down beloooooooooow!
UnknownCarrot has all the parts of the show. *goes off to watch* I see Yoo ChaeYoung! <3

OMG EUNJUNG! So many kinks being hit . . . SUITS! CROSS-DRESSING! PIMPAGE! . . . She kind of looks like Tani. LOL, EunJung = Tani to me FOREVER NOW.

BEAST's routine picked up in the second half and was fun--LOL, Jung JooRi!!!!

After School! LOL, IT'S A LIL MAMA SONG! LOL, Uee, awkward expressions. XD And then Chris Brown. Aw, yeah, Gahee. You bust out. LOL, UEE. ARGH, CAMERA! After School has actual formation changes. SNSD so rarely has dynamic formation changes in their routines--OMG, GAHEE, I SAW THAT BLING! HYO, WEAR YOUR DAMN BELLYBUTTON RING! Aw, and a little humor at the end! I think SNSD would have taken it on choreography criteria, but AS just looks so much more dynamic up there since the stage is fuller with so many members and all the flashing lights are purdy. Plus, "Wall to Wall" is such a stomp song (
Aw, yeah, Kaba Modern!)! I can see how AS could have connected with the audience better.
joyceeishungee9 is also uploading the full show and not just clips:
Part 1 of 7.
ETA: It only took me all day but I finally watched the whole thing! Um,
WOW SUJU! They really gave me a bona fide dance crew feel. Um, can Hyo dance with them? A crew can use a token female!
