Thankfully there weren't that many SNSD videos. . . . That was underwhelming. But Beat Freaks' ABDC performances playing in the background as I type this is hyping me up. "YOU, YOU, YOU ARE--!"

SNSD + 2PM Dance Performance - Maknae is looking so good. <3 But she's a bit stiff. AHAHAHA. That hug. I wonder if Seobaby was like D: Oh, those shoulder pads on Yul are not helping her rocking body. . . . Oddly, I wasn't getting very much of a sexual vibe from Yul's piece. I think it had to do with the fact that she seemed more intent on the audience than her partner. TaeYeon?! Srutting like a diva. That hug was much more sensual that the one with maknae. A little off-beat(? something's off), Tete, but :D overall. AHAHAHAHA. CAMERA!FAIL. "Let's cut away from the maknae dancing couple over there and show these two posing over here." "Gee" - PJs? Moving stage--omg, they're sitting on a bed. Is this like a comeback of the MV that cannot be named?! Wait, it actually seems to be in innocent fun with HyoFany cracking up like that--was Fany inspecting her mic or something because SooYoung was looking at her in amused inquiry. This is such a messy opening. D: Why are they in PJs anyway? Are they trying to give "Gee" a sleepy feel?! I am not approving of this. The lights aren't dynamic either. It should be a HOT stage, not a dreamy stage! But Hyobaby, you're doing so much better with your lines in "Gee"! Why did TaeYeon start to laugh during her line? Wow, Hyo really leapt at her line, didn't she? And then winced at the pyrotechnics. 'S ok, Hyo, I know you're scared of them. So knowing that "Genie" came afterwards, I can see why they used the PJs to cover up their next outfit but . . . seriously? I think "KJE's Chocolate" oversized button down shirts were sexier and would have added the energy "Gee" needed. And the lighting! I don't want "sleepy" "Gee"! *sigh*
"Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) - Sexy Remix Ver." - Are we sure this isn't Dreamy Trance Version? lol What is going on? Everything slowed down so that they're not even doing leg kicks? Is this the "sexy" part? AUGH, why did SM go with this theme for SNSD?! It is not about SLEEPY TIMEZ! This song was about being fierce . . . this is not fierce. It takes way too long to start picking up the beat, almost two minutes in. Holy . . . did Hyo just feel herself up? Hrm. It seems like her solo was a mix of new and old--the turn was actually something that was part of the MV version and the stuff after she felt herself up was old, but the self-groping was new--and no one commits to touching herself like Hyo. (Was that filled with enough inappropriate language for you? I want Hyo to do old school!Madonna now. "Like a virgin~") I wonder who said "Make me hot"--and then what is this club atmosphere dance they're doing? It looks like the "Mister" butt dance, especially from this angle on Hyo! Am I the only one continually distracted by all the pins in the back of their jackets?!
Hrm. So I've said before that "Genie" is a song that when it starts that I'm not sure that I want to listen to it again but that at a certain point when the chorus is kicking in--and the music behind it--I'm totally into it. This remix seems to have taken away that energy that made the song build to that chorus-captivating point. Dear SM, hire better remixers. It can only help you!
SNSD + f(x) - "Sorry Sorry" - Why are they in heels? Why are they in heels?! Why are they in heels?! Hyo's the shortie in the middle, ROFL. Other than that, nothing we haven't really seen before except for the addition of f(x). Amber was a little off in the tutting? That last move seems to catch everyone, which is a shame because it's a really obvious move to lag on. The ending seemed a little skewed too--did Syoung pop up a beat too fast? And I keep trying to get a look at Hyo's jacket. Is it leather? And Amber's "bowtie" is . . . a fake mustache?
Super Junior + SNSD - "Sorry Sorry" - What was the point of this? Hyo's totally into it and earned herself a one-shot--or is that a two-shot with EunHyuk? But . . . okay?
I said to CP that if this is how SNSD's going to perform on all the end-of-the-year music shows, it'd probably be better for them to not perform and rest up. This was . . . lackluster and reflects poorly on the group that started 2009 with a bang. (But if I ask nicely, will someone gif Hyo feeling herself up? Please? Pretty please? Also, that spin! Kaba Modern ABDC compilation (Season 1 - 3rd place) - soooooooo awesome! They were so good at adapting and reinterpreting styles into their own. This particular KB group of dancers seems to be pretty big on the circuit these days. I was sad not to see them make ABDC's finals.

Afroborike ABDC compilation 2 (Season 3 runners up) - THEIR PARTNER WORK IS INSANE. That is trust! (And sex.) I would love Hyo to meet them to see how to fuse Latin and hip-hop.
Rhythm City ABDC compilation (Season 3) - I was pulling for Rhythm City as my second fave for a while of season 3, which isn't saying much since Season 3 really lacked something. But RC is all about being clean, baby.
Part of the reason ABDC pulled me away from SYTYCD is that while SYTYCD is filled with great dancers, ABDC was about a group of dancers who had to come up with their own shows every week. They had to be so creatively stretched in order to meet the challenges and create routines week-to-week. It wasn't just about pulling out of repertoire but having to be able to take inspiration from other sources and not be constrained in your creativity by it. You could really see when crews were taken out of their comfort zones. Some adapted and some crashed and burned. I couldn't imagine having to do that week-to-week, trying to build up stages one after the other. D:
Korean dance crew Prepix because Jess is pimping them out to me and they deserved to be pimped out!
So I was musing on that astrology-profiling post I did a while back, more specifically thinking about the Chinese Zodiac portion. The '89ers are Snakes and what stuck out to me about that horoscope is something that keeps popping up when describing Snakes ("He's a cold-hearted snake~/Look into his eyes!"): that they're seductive. This didn't make as much sense to me when I wrote that post as it does now. So here's a fun Sexy, Seductive SNSD '89ers Ranking!, strictly my own opinion!:
6. Tiffany
I don't find Tiffany as overtly sexy as the rest of the '89ers. I think her seduction is more subtle than sexual, more in her bubbliness and friendliness. The growing huskiness of her voice is lending her the type of sexy that I find attractive, but girl needs to find how to make her hips not lie when she's dancing! She lacks a bit of the stage flair that I think other members can bring that makes dogs drool.

I couldn't decide who was sexier here, lol.
I think TaeYeon can really turn it on when she wants to but I think she often mars her attempts by suddenly turning dorky and self-conscious. But when she's really into the moment, really just committed like in "Hush Hush," she can have amazing results in the sexy field--confident, talented, arresting on stage. I was confused earlier this year when people said that TaeYeon was becoming sexy, but I've been seeing some serious flashes of it in her attitude. Her singing is damn sexy, of course; the way she can emote wins my heart.
Jessica brings a squishable personality within a harder exterior that can be fetish fuel. She's on the surface the Bitch or the Hard Ass, but underneath a girl that could use someone strong to protect her. I think her aloofness surrounds her with a more constant state of "seductive" and "alluring" and "mysterious" that TaeYeon doesn't usually have being her dorky self. That might tip the "sexy" factor in Sica's favor. I think if Jessica could consistently sing at more volume, I'd've tipped the scales in her favor for sure. Or f she brought the energy she used to have in her dancing back into her present performances! But perhaps her lazy ways have their own brand of sexy appeal?
3. Sunny
Sunny is this little sex bunny. 'Nuff said. She's delightfully proportioned and she sells that body, knowing how to emphasize her curves and to bring that teasing element to her performance. It's very overt. I think she also has a great smile and her ability to go from fun and maknae-ish to badass has its own compelling quality. Apparently her aegyo makes all the oppas come to the yard, too.
2. HyoYeon
At first I tied Hyo for first, but I think #1 YuRi has a broader appeal. I think Hyo's sexiness hooks a smaller audience than Yul's does. Hyo's type of sexy really comes out on stage more than anywhere else. It's her strength and confidence that is sexy, I'd say. Her sensuality is more subtle than Yul's, but it's at pretty epic levels too. It's this commitment to what she does and this kind of celebration of her body both in dance and an explicit touting of it. It's the way she doesn't hesitate to touch herself when she dances and kind of glorify in it: check out how she does it in the "Genie" dance break above, beginning at her neck, but practically closing her eyes and tilting her head away like that to give you a nice view of her neck while giving the impression that she's totally into it herself rather than, say, just pandering. (Hyo!bias!) And Hyo almost always has the energy to bring this type of performance to the stage in a consistency that I think Yul lacks (you can sometimes feel Yul's fatigue on the stage), which would have given me an excuse to tie them.

When Yul is at the top of her sensual seduction game, she's smoking hot, like make you want to commit all sorts of sins hot. She clearly appeals across gender lines as guys can hardly contain themselves at the sight of her and girls will gladly go gay for her (though I've also seen some fangirls make this comment about Hyo, lol, but I think Yul hooks more hot-blooded fans in both genders than Hyo does). She's very much sex on legs, able to be both coy and confident, which is a feat, really. She can bring sex in an overt "I am seducing you" way and often manage to not come off as sleazy. It's quite alluring. And, lol, Yul has the long lines that all the rest of the '89ers lack. XD She's gorgeous in whatever context.

b) if HyoYeon left SNSD for Prepix or a dance crew like Prepix, I would totally sanction it! Just imagining it is making me drool. If I could see Hyo kick it like Yun, I think I would die of fangirly happiness. I'm actually having a hard time envisioning it because the styles we've seen from Hyo aren't like the isolations and slow-fast hip-hop that Prepix does--which is why it would be even more awesome to see Hyo pull off something like this. Seriously, dance fans, watch Prepix's videos.
Apparently, Hyo and Amber are totally BFFs. Or opportunistic dance partners. Really I don't know what's going on but it makes me smile. (Thank you to hyoyeonfan for the heads up.)
