How do you solve a problem like HyoYeon?

Nothing insightful to add, it's all been said and rehashed already.
No joke.
We can start a whole new round of comments going back to the "Hyoyeon's dance skillz: then and now" because we have Dangerous from Star Dance Battle and Smooth Criminal from...Star Dance Battle. Wait...
But . . . that's all from this year. LOL I mean, I guess we can see how she's maybe improved/not improved within the year, but I wish we had some standards between 2007-2009. Actually, that would probably be the "Boogie that Be"/"Breakaway" performance, since both were previously performed 2007ish.

- Camera!fail. The hell? . . . I really don't get PDs and their need to switch up cameras at weird angles during dance performances. FAIL.
- Hyo needs to really work on her pelvis thrust. She needs to straighten her back and thrust really just from the legs and pelvis; she needs to not put so much back into it. . . . LOL I do like seeing her posturing as MJ, though. I love that she commits to moves; you often find Hyo not looking at the audience when everyone else is because she's flung her head to the side because she's committing to a move.
- I'm sad not to see YoonA in that opening, actually. She's got precision and I wasn't feeling it from SooYoung--or really, from anyone to varying degrees throughout the whole performance. The energy level is definitely not as high as MBC Star Dance Battle; competition must really get their adrenaline going! And there's not as much crowd love as they had gotten during SDB.
- I think the outfits aren't helping either. The white is kind of all glowy on the stage. I preferred the black suits. Mmm, black suits.
- I think Hyo actually changed up the solo in "Dangerous" from SDB.
- SooYoung is definitely not dancing to the best of her abilities here. Really lackluster from her. That whole last section after the moonwalk . . . not feeling it from Syoung.
- I don't remember that move @1:29 being in MBC Star Dance Battle? Maybe I'm blocking it.
- Really, camera fail. *sigh*

One tiiiiny thing that I noticed was changed in the Smooth Criminal performance is at around 1:42 in that link, Hyoyeon has moved to the back row already (you can see it better on the fancam posted here). In the SDB performance, Hyoyeon had waited until the slide to move to the back row [1:46 in the GDA link] - she took a step back prior to SooRi moving forward to finish the formation change and go straight into the slide. In the GDA performance, once they step out of the moonwalk, they do just a couple of steps to put Hyoyeon in the back row. Basically, it's a lot less awkward and Hyoyeon wasn't stumbling into the slide and makes me think that Hyoyeon herself amended the choreography to help her out there. (which of course leads to me wishing she'd choreograph something, rawr)
The energy, the camera, the lighting was just fail at GDA. Which sucks since it's a rather good routine. Girls were probably practicing like craziness for the concert, I'd guess.

Yeah, I thought something felt odd about the front-to-back row transition part. I remember thinking, "Is something missing?" Someone definitely amended something in there--I wouldn't be surprised if they went back to the SDB performance(s) to review it before finalizing the GDA one.
And the outfit change! I definitely missed the black suits when I saw the opening of SNSD's part.
