MBC Star Dance Battle
just_keep_on graciously had the link waiting for me when I woke up and I will provide it here:
SNSD (SeoHyun, SooYoung, HyoYeon, YuRi, Sunny) - "Smooth Criminal" @ MBC Dance Battle
AW YEAH! A few mistakes here and there from Syoung and Hyo, and poor maknae's mic pack was dangling behind her like a tail, but AW YEAH! I didn't expect the whole group to attempt the moonwalk! I love how their side exploded with excitement (and flinging their sitting pillows?)--and I only realized that was Boom in that crazy get up when someone mentioned him. JoKwon totally glomped onto Sunny with a hug. =D
They also performed Super Junior's "Sorry, Sorry" right before "Smooth Criminal," but that's not as important as it's nothing we haven't seen--except for Seobaby! And Sunny flung opponents and took names in the games (and why hasn't SNSD snuck out to clubs?). Boom affectionately teases Sunny, as he always does (because he liiiiikes her, lol).
SNSD went up against Super Junior, who performed their own rendition of "Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)". SuJu won. I don't think it matters.
I've seen a lot of comments comparing the dance performances of the girl groups in all the Chuseok specials and I have to agree: I'm glad SM didn't necessarily go the "sexy" route. SNSD's pieces have been more about the dancing for the sake of showing off some dancing than the sex. In the words of Lil Mama, I appreciate that.
Other noteworthy performances:
Round 1: SHINee - "Boys on Top" (BoA's "Girls on Top") vs. After School - "Again & Again" (2PM) - I didn't feel the energy in either performance until After School broke out into the dance break. Check out the Ciara lean!
Kim NaYoung & Yu ChaeYoung "Mackeral" (Norazo) vs. Boom "Abracadabra" (Brown Eyed Girls) - Truly, truly, "oh my eyes!"
