the illusion of transparency gets me every time . . .
Sooo many SNSD videos coming out--they are promoting "Gee" hardcore. 10 Asia's Interview w/SNSD (reposted here from soshified) gives some insights into their group dynamics, as well as individual ambitions. (Points that stick out in my mind: the girls hold daily meetings to talk about their day, maknae "on top," the considerations they have during live performances, sending embarrassing messages to members who are doing solo work, the complete awareness of netizen talk and fans "shipping" them together, lol.) Road Show Quiz Expedition had some fun moments, including awesome robots that brought some really funny moments and members defending each other's honor, but they cut out HyoYeon's dance battle, which makes me really sad only because whatever that fancam cut off in the beginning is what made the crowd go "WHOA!" Star King (SooYoung, Tiffany, Hyo, Sunny, Jessica) had some fun moments--and I do love watching SooYoung on shows because of her straightforward, powerful personality--but "Little SNSD" scared me. Little girls should not be dancing like that . . . and not be having dance battles with someone twice their age. And although I'm not familiar with other SM groups DBSK, Super Junior, SHINee, or Lin Yi (and CSJH the Grace, but they were not in attendance), the complete chaos of having them and SNSD on one stage is an awesome thing to behold. Especially since none of it is choreographed and it's just water fights and chaos. LOL! (It popped into my head, too, that Hello! Project could benefit from having some male pop idols or having the girls interact with male pop idols. It's fun and humanizing, not threatening, to see girls interact with boys--at the appropriate age level, of course. It helps that SMTowners have known each other for so long: Kangin mentioned how he first met SNSD maknae SeoHyun when she was in 6th grade--6 years ago, when she had been scouted. Well, not threatening as long as you aren't a rabid fan of some member or a die hard anti-fan. Oh, Korean fandoms, you are scarily hardcore.)
But what I'm really eager to see subs for is SNSD's appearance on Good Morning. So much behind the scenes of the hectic life of an idol!
1. Invasion of their dorm/apartment (again!). Since SNSD's debut, their apartment has been shown on
+ "Girls Go to School" (when they first moved in together and were assigned rooms and roommates, which hasn't changed since)
+ "Manwon Happiness" (which was AWESOME the first time b/c the girls didn't expect it--lol @ Tiffany blearily looking out her door to see what the fuss was about and then Hyo and Tae trying to wake YoonA up)
+ "Factory Girl" (when ELLE Girl's managing editor was allowed in while the girls were out to assess the girls' fashion sense)
+ and glimpses of the communal areas and YuRi and Sunny's room in "We Got Married."
Each time I find it fascinating (voyeuristic!). During this latest visit the girls had the sense to cover up their drying clothes (lingerie?) with blankets, which you could see in the background in GGTS when they were promoting their album. There really is no communal furniture aside from the table and chairs in the kitchen and the massage chair (LOL! Tiffany's? Even ELLE Girl's head editor expressed shock at seeing it) shoved into a corner. They say it's so that they can practice (or, in this case, engage in complete silliness). There's a full length mirror set up in the living room, though. Also, they don't have a wine bottle opener. And they write their names on their clothes, lol! YoonA showed her YA initials in her sneakers.
I notice, too, that SooYoung has acquired a video phone. During an old radio appearance, last year's Valentine's?, YuRi and Jessica talked about how during their vacations with their families they missed each other and had video-phoned each other. At the end of that discussion SooYoung said, in complete seriousness and earnestness, that she was going to buy a video phone. =D
2. Rehearsal footage! It's been a while since they had footage of them rehearsing in their practice room. Everyone looks so tired. Not surprising since they were fitting in rehearsals of the remix routine around their packed schedules. Hyo looked ready to pass out and she was half-assing the steps. Everyone else is bouncing around and Hyo's like, "This is the general idea of the moves." And TaeYeon, why are you wearing heels? Everyone else is in sneakers, even tinier Sunny. I understand you will be dancing in heels but your feet must hurt after a long day. And how cute were SeoHyun and YoonA playing around? Or YoonA's "xie xie" when SooYoung poured her something to drink. LOL @ SooYoung's talk about food--she's never going to escape her "Shik Shin" (eating god) image.
They showed them practicing backstage before the performance, too. Their pre-performance huddle was cute, with SeoHyun glomping onto Hyo right afterwards. It seemed so random, but cute! Oh, and I fail to understand how you don't come to hate your own song hearing it replayed so many times during practice.
3. SooYoung and her family. Aw. SooYoung seems to be showcasing her family recently. Her older sister is beautiful and appeared on "A Star's Friend." We've also already seen the members playing at SooYoung's home with her parents in the MTV special around the time of their debut. I think people were saying that if SY's mom could have one of the members as a son(?) she'd pick YuRi. LOL. I wonder what it's like to have a child so plastered all over TV. Must be a lot of anxious television monitoring. Entertainment Relay, aside from following them from the hair salon to the studio, showed the girls calling their parents after their win on a music program.
