Dear Wicked Fandom, don't stop being awesome. (That said, I wish more of the awesomeness hadn't stopped writing.)
Writing mainly in the bookverse,
chudley_cannon (
on lj and
on FF.net, which is missing many of her drabbles) does things with the drabble that I wish I could do. Concise but really hard hitting and with a real sense of completion and containment. Many of them are a nice look at the time of Elphaba's childhood, especially her mother's feelings at the time. In the longer (and frustratingly incomplete) "The Week of Ill Repute," chudley takes us along Elphaba and Glinda's trip to the Emerald City. More than just exploring the complexity of the girls' relationship, chudley keeps an eye toward filling in the details to explain Elphaba's eventual decision. Very good if sadly very incomplete and not likely to be complete, but well worth reading what is already there. "Angular" explores G(a)linda and Elphaba through various viewpoints. I probably like Boq's and Nessarose's voices most, as they're not usually used and they were key players in that Charmed Circle. "An Expropriation" is such an excellent look at how Crope and Glinda relate to each other through their common experience of losing a loved one. It's all good here.
