AHAHAHA! Among the February (yes, February--so far away) DC solicitations is the
BoP #103 cover and blurb! This cover makes me happy for at least two reasons. 1) Barda. I don't even know Barda but I find her amusing for no discernible reason. 2) Huntress. Playing referee. Being mediator. Being... team leader?
Yeah, developments in issue #99 upset me, but I have to admit that I'm really curious to see the dynamics of a new team--and to watch Huntress play senior member. Helena never came across to me as exactly being a team player, but man, oh man, yes. I finally got around to reading the Huntress mini "Cry for Blood" and browsed through the (infamous?) Nightwing-Huntress team up, especially hitting on the page where Helena admits to wanting a place in the Bat Family, and now this? Just, yes. Babs and Dinah were always really good friends, but when Helena was pulled onto the team, I thought the Birds became something more approximating a family unit with the three playing off of each other (plus extended family members: Zinda, Savant, Creote, a cameo from Ted or Dick, even Josh). I like to think that Huntress has found her new family of sorts. (I'd like to know what she thinks and feels about her position on the Birds. Is she still pining after Batman's approval and acceptance? I wouldn't be surprised if the answer were yes, but I like to think that Simone, depending how long she plans to use Huntress, can get her past that, much as Babs has been, more and more, asserting herself--for better or worse.) I'm looking forward to seeing how Huntress and Oracle handle working with and breaking in new members. Does anyone know if Barda and/or Manhunter are planned to be long-term members? From the Newsarama interview with Simone regarding issue #100, it seems like a lot of heroines will be making appearances and won't necessarily be members of the Birds? *sigh* I hate waiting.
And WTF, Misfit? ... Are we looking at our first official junior member of the Birds?
