The new generations

Jul 15, 2008 04:07

I wasn't sure if it were due to the way I view things now versus the way I viewed things 10 years ago (gods that makes me sound old...), but from what I have seen the newer generations are becoming more and more (ME ME ME) and less tolerant of others. Less people seem to think for themselves, and they seem to fall into molds no matter what scene they choose to fit in with. No matter what scene they fall into any more they all (well for the most part) put on their uniforms and conform into what other want them to do. Hell even the non-conformists are conforming and playing their roles.... Anyway...

A customer at work has one of those frames around her plate that says "My other car is a school bus", so I asked her about the new generations and if they have changed. She has been driving for 30 years and she said that if I had asked her 10 years ago she would have said no, but in the last 10 years the kids she drives have slid way down the hill and the parents today could give a shit less. (seems I was right and not just viewing things differently) She has kids now that make fun of the people they drive by, and it doesn't matter what they look like, they will find something. She has one kid that she had to kick off the bus because he would ride for a day and she would kick him off the next. She said he would yell at people as they went by calling them spics, niggers, and what ever racial slur he could think of,,,, and this is a kid in grade school. She called his dad and talked to him about it because she could not have that kind of thing on her bus and his dad said "I don;t care what he calls them".

Aside from the kids even the adults are changing. People want to do the least amount of work possible for the highest pay possible and throw tantrums when they don't get it. More companies are telling the customers what they will and will not do and that is final. The company of the modern day is all about the biggest profit with the least amount of work or customer service as possible and care less about the customer then ever. The customer is no longer a person and is now just a dollar sign. Test scores are dropping along with the attention,,, hey look a kitty.... I do know that the ave ASVAB score was a 50%/202 when I took it and the last time I checked, it had dropped to 45% /197.

I might write more later, I need to run.
