So, apparently when you get your bronze you can submit a picture to the USDF yearbook that year.

So I figured, ok, go to Knox Farm with a friend and take some pics.
Upon further reflexion, I fleshed out "go to Knox Farm with a friend and take some pics" and realized that this would involve showing up at a state park in my Koenigs with a braided dressage horse and poncing about with a photographer in tow.

I think, if you will excuse me, that it is pretty much impossible to do that without being a _total_ douchebag.

However, I also think that I would rather have a nice picture in the USDF yearbook than not be a douchebag ever, so I braided the horse, dragged my friend Sarah out to participate in this wanton douchebaggery, and off we went!

And?

Behold my dressage horse!

Personally, I think that photo turned out rather well considering that
1.)It is of a douchebag poncing about in a state park on a braided dressage horse.
2.)Sarah generally works absolute miracles in oil pastel. But not photography. At all. There is less overlap here than the average DQ would think.
Phrases overheard included, "Oh, I think I can get it to do burst mode."
3.)Speaking of the camera, it is one my mother randomly sent me a couple weeks ago because "your father never uses it" and I had had exactly zero chance to play with it at all, so I essentially handed it to Sarah, who is not a photographer and does not even own a camera, and was like, "Erm...I have no idea how this works so um, I dunno, maybe fiddle around with it while I tack up?"
5.)We figured we'd shoot into the sun at all times.*
The SIDE THE BRAIDS ARE ON people, is what MATTERS.
6.) I photoshopped this expertly by putting it in iPhoto and moving the sliders around until I dunno man, I guess he looks less shadowy but also not orange. Also, next time I will remember to assess my boot socks before heading out but I wonder what this "retouch" button does?

*Except, of course, this beeeyoooooootifully lit shot of Sir Fluffs spooking at a bird house that was attached to the fence just out of the frame.

Behold my dressage horse beholding a birdhouse!

I think that will do for some random section of some USDF publication that no one will ever read anyway.
