I don't even like Mark all that well, am obsessed with Supernatural now to the point I'm going to watch it instead of GA, and I'd still tune in for ED in a towel.

Maybe we could get a sauna scene with ED, JC and PD? MMMmmmmm

*shrug* I didn't expect her to change it. What she going do honestly turn an 180 and have Izzie realize she doesn't really love George but Chief Webber? Focus groups do not change a show. Fans shouldn't have that type of creative power over a show.

Oh, they do sometimes. The OC killed off Marissa because everyone hated her (and ended up getting cancelled soon after) and Supernatural axed a female character because all of the teenies had a hissy that a *gasp!* female got too close to their Dean. Lost got rid of two characters that everyone hated.

I don't think fans *should* have that kind of say, honestly. I really think it could prove to be disastrous. Really, I think writers should just avoid the internet altogether. Fans are way too entitled these days. They forget that this is just entertainment, and get too up in arms about things that happen on their favorite shows, and it's ridiculous.

I agree 100%. I want to watch the writer's ideas, not some random online fandom's contribution.

I think it depends on the talent of the writing crew. Honestly Lost just came back from the slumps because they listened to their fan's reactions about how much they hated random new characters and they turned it around.

This isn't about creative power or art, this is about marketing. Their summer reruns have continually put them behind NBC and FOX and personally I think if they had listened to the fan outcries of how depressing, how contrived, how unrealistic the show had been getting before now, then they wouldn't be at this point that they are now.
