Addison sits on the edge of the small bed. Her legs are crosses tightly. She runs her hand up the high stiletto heel. Her white oxford is perfectly pressed and her black pencil shirt is high around her waist. She looks calm, collected, and in control.

Derek walks into the trailer. He looks at her and drops his head to the floor.

“Addison…”

“No Derek, not tonight, I can’t continue to ignore this. Derek, I have to go.” Addison says calmly as she accentuated each word. She stands up from the bed, and walks over to Derek.

“You love her.” Addison pauses letting it really sink it. “You don’t… You love her very much, and I…” Addison breathes in. “I love you.” She leans in and softly kisses him on the lips. She walks backwards from him.

“Addison, don’t leave tonight. We… Addison don’t do this now,” Derek says eyeing the bags in the corner of the bedroom.

“Derek, no not anymore. I have to go. Now.” Addison moves to put on her black trench and pick up her leather duffle. She pulls off her wedding ring and sets it on the dresser.

“Addison don’t…” He moves and grabs Addison’s arm.

Addison jumps back “Don’t touch me.” Addison says coldly. “Just stop.”

Derek feels anger flare inside of him. “So now you’re just going to hate me. Turn me into a bad guy.”

Addison swallows and shakes her head. “No Derek, I hate you for breaking me. That’s the only reason why I hate you and that’s the reason I’m leaving.”

Addison picks up her bag and pushes past Derek. She opens the flimsy trailer door. She stops at the door and looks around for a moment.

“God, I hated it here, but I guess we we’re trying.” Addison shrugs and walks out the door allowing it to slam behind her. As she entered her car the cold, and icy exterior she maintained during her conversation was gone. It has been replaced with running mascara and her hair has fallen down and is undone from the tight bun it was in only moments earlier.

Addison turns on the car and pulls out of the makeshift drive way and pulls out on the road. Tears are running down her face and her pain does not decrease with each mile she drove. The further away she drove, the further she felt from the past, and closer to a very uncertain future.

Addison pulls into the hotel parking lot and turn off her car. Valet comes over and helps her out of the car and with her bags. “Where are you visiting from Ms.?”

Addison turns and looks at the young man who asked her the question. She smiles at him and thinks for a moment. “I’m on an extended visit here from New York.” She smiles contently to herself and goes to check herself into her room.
