Everyone else was doing it.
Also, I knew I had a giant head, but I didn't realize how giant until I started crocheting a hat. The pattern is for a woman with an average-size head, i.e., a head circumference of 18.25 inches. So I measured my head to make sure the hat would fit.
My head circumference is 22 inches. 3.75 INCHES BIGGER THAN THE AVERAGE.
