Mirror mirror on the door, haven't we done all this before?

Jean stepped out of the shower and wrapped herself in the waiting towel. It was an odd feeling to be back in her attic room in the mansion again. It felt like forever since she'd been there, for her it was another lifetime ago. She studied herself in the mirror, remembering what her reflection had been the last time she had faced this same mirror.

She had been pale and depressed then. There had been dark circles around her eyes. Her hair had been cut short and was tangled from lack of brushing.

Now she was lightly tanned, and her entire being had a toned and healthy look about it. There was an assortment of scars that she had gained over the years as an X-Man who fought in the field. Her hair was longer and sun streaked. The dark circles were gone, and her eyes were more alert, noting their surroundings. She was older and, hopefully, wiser. She had lost the man she loved, discovered she had never loved him at all, and had his child. She had raised a telepathic daughter practically single handedly.

A smile curved her lips. For the first time in as long as she could remember, Jean liked what she saw in the mirror. She no longer cared about trendy hair styles or a few too many freckles. Her time in another world had taught her that there were more important things then appearences.

Turning from the mirror, Jean readied herself to face another day.
