"The best gift I have ever given someone... Time, caring, compassion and love. The years will make all other things fade.
"I could list here more trivial things. The books I've given Charles, the car I gave to Scott one Christmas, or the assorted desires I've fulfilled for the students of the school such as the much needed Playstation or the leather jacket that was such a neccessity. But these aren't the important things. After I'm gone, or after a decade has gone by, the electronics will have been replaced or the clothing gone 'out of vogue'. What will last is the bonds we create with other, and the contributions for the future.
"That's why I stay with the X-Men. No matter how dangerous, or how reckless it may seem, we're creating a better world for our children, and for their children. That is what will last. And on the day that I truly take my last breath, I will look around myself and see what I have done for humanity. The gift I have given, paying for it with my own life or the lives of others when neccessary. The hope for a better life, not for myself, but for those to come."
Jean closed her journal and stood, looking out the window at the night.
