gaming in a pataphorical context

Sep 24, 2014 14:32

I've been working on my untitled game from late 2012 (see here and here). It occurs to me that the game is in some ways pataphorical, in that the nobles are simultaneously metaphors for the planets and also the planets themselves. Likewise for the Stars and Comets: they both signify a natural star or comet and are also the thing signified. Generally I expect gameplay to stay in the metaphor of the noble courts, but I'm not averse to a bit of metalevel-crossing if an interesting possibility arises.

With the subatomic nature of materials and Implements, we go off in another direction with the metaphor between a solar system and atomic structure.

I just thought that was interesting!
