Water = life

Water reclamation: Is this not the most obvious idea EVER?

Instead of funneling even more water from Hetch-Hetchy and Mono Lake to the Bay and LA areas, why not use the water that gets dumped there already? What a blindingly new concept: rain as a source of water.

And it wouldn't even require that much investment. Cities, which use use enormous amounts of water, already have a built in catch system that we called paved streets, sewers, and treatment plants. Instead of using potable drinking water to, say, wash a car or water a lawn we could be using reclaimed water.

By the way, did you know that setting up your own water catch system is currently ILLEGAL in San Francisco? WHY? God knows.

Sorry, forgive the rant, but I recently drove past Lake Shasta (a massive reservoir in Northern California) and the water level is incredibly low. It's completely dried up in parts and though I believe it's higher now than it was this time last year it was still a scary sight to see. It really drove home just how dire this drought is.

Yes, California is in the middle of a drought. And the local news is still yapping about... Bratz? Dr. Dre's kid? Who the hell cares what an amber alert is anymore?!
