I find Louise Bourgeois's work both highly unsettling and thoroughly enthralling.
One of her more accessible pieces, called "Crouching Spider," is on (sadly) temporary display at Pier 14.
I love the movement and those tiny, tapering points the legs come down to.
It's hard to find good examples of her work, but I encourage you to look for them. Make sure you're not eating anything at the time though.
