Had a super lovely weekend, had my b-day party a day early and stuffed myself silly on bbq and played with sparklers. Alas the Bay Area fog rolled in around 4pm so it was chillier than I could have wished for, but everything else was just grand. To my happy surprise, Price-Costco makes a decent key lime pie (jumbo size of course but perfect for large groups).
Was introduced to two very fun new games, _Citadels_ and _A Game of Thrones_ (yes, based on the GRR Martin books). Citadels is a card game and I am always fond of card games. It had a nice roles-with-specific-powers mechanic similar to Puerto Rico but with a unknown factor which I liked. Thrones played out much like Age of Renaissance but as bohemond pointed out, is simpler to play. I found it quite enjoyable, I like games with cards and resources and little figures (Catan, AoR, etc.) And it was rather fun to see how the various political factions in the books played out as pieces on a game board. I can't wait to play again and figure out how to use some of the other orders and abilities better.
A very busy and tiring long weekend but definitely worth all the yawning today. Yikes, I'll be on my way to Providence by this time next week. Where the heck is my summer going?
