year in review: things made

Woodworking

- a bench and shoe storage with reclaimed wine boxes for shoe baskets. I took advantage of the lovely woodshop at a nearby communal home for this, and have many thanks for the friendly faces there for getting me re-started in woodworking.

- a coffee table, made from cherry wood with kreg joints.

- I had a closet built, but the contractor who built the closet was of subpar quality. I tore out the flimsy closet wall he built and put in stronger one on my own, then built a series of shelves into the side of the closet.

- A ladder for hanging clothing on.

Fiber Arts

- My dear friend and ex-roommate got married. It was my pleasure to make her a quilt for her wedding in a smorgasboard of her favorite colors. This afghan was inspired by Clothogancho.

- Another dear friend from Boston married, and I made her a quilt, too:

- A college roommate gave birth to her first, a boy. I gave him a ducky and a baby quilt:

- Finally, I finished the 'quilt block of the month' quilt. I still have leftover squares from this; I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them.

Ceramics

- my first successful teapot! (And a couple unsuccessful ones)

- And a smorgasbord of assorted pottery. Only a fraction of what I made this year is shown - there were many bowls and cups, and many were given away. Of note: 17 matching cups for wedding party members.

Other

- While recovering from surgery, I painted a series of 9 doormats inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and the Transformers:

An Easter egg:
