"Pull the blindfold down..."

So, I've had at least four nights of hellish insomnia. Actually, last night was very slightly, so I'll say it was purgatorial insomnia. So, I'm somewhat delirious. But I did not, this morning, hallucinate Spooky saying "Stupid raid event. How am I supposed to sew this beastie and look for a stupid green cobra at the same time?" I don't know why I'm ( Read more... )

Isn't Argo also factually innacurate?

Tho admittedly that's because the book it was based off of was also wrong. Still.

I have no idea. But I watched it as fictionalized history.

"Stupid raid event. How am I supposed to sew this beastie and look for a stupid green cobra at the same time?"

I don't think asking for context could improve that question, so I'll just admire it.

But it's an absolute farce to call Argo the best film of 2012.

I enjoyed it very much when I saw it and the last third of the film is a terrible idea. Bryan Cranston, though.

Say hi to the bear cat for me.

But here's a photograph of the little creep from his first day with us:

Oh, the insolence in that pose. So adorable.

And yes, it's a good movie. I enjoyed it quite a lot. But it's an absolute farce to call Argo the best film of 2012.*

Not only did it win best picture it was on the top ten list of practically every critic in the country, often at number 1. I predicted its win for best picture.

I enjoyed the movie, too, but I thought it was more like a decent episode of a television series than a great movie. My theory is that, and I say this as a liberal myself, its politics were too irresistible. It had two things Hollywood loved--it made liberals look good but, more importantly, it made Hollywood look good while waxing sentimental about it.

Better than that, but I do see where you're coming from.

I finally have the internet on after moving house. I have a bedsit in the heart of Waterford that is all my own. It's sunny today, but not uncomfortably so.
I hope you are well, and I wish a happy Gotcha Day to Selwyn and the whole family.
