"I will, Walter."

Not time for a full entry this afternoon, but I did want to mention that we watched the final three episodes of Fringe last night. And I loved them. The series ended well. I will always find the phenomenon of endings odd. They're one of the most transparently and inherently contrived aspects of storytelling. They posit a neatness and simplicity absent in the world, though it usually seems that very few people who receive the tales told by storytellers ever pause to consider the Problem of The End. And yet, having said this, and having written this many times over by way of my fiction, I see the literary necessity of endings. And I see the absolute necessity of good endings, and the crime of bad endings and of endings that are never allowed to happen.

That said, again, Fringe ended very well, and it will be missed.

fringe, ending, good tv
