Chilly. Sort of sunny. Sort of cloudy. We're being promised low sixties in the days to come, and I sit impatiently with fingers crossed. Toes. Fingers and toes crossed. All the toes that I can manage to cross. My toes used to be much more nimble

Meanwhile, I wish I remembered enough about the Eighties Beauty and the Beast to know if it got significantly better. Likely someone will chime in to defend it (though no fans are likely to applaud how the show wrote out Linda Hamilton's character; that made a lot of people mad).
Looking forward to seeing more of kylecassidy's photos of you guys...

Also, why are novels today generally and on average so very much longer than older novels? One word: computers. More is "written," because it's so much easier with a word-processing program than a typewriter.** Easier for writers, editors, publishers, everyone. And the reader gets the illusion of getting more for their money (id est, thicker books). This trend will only get worse with ebooks.
Weird to say this, but maybe now we hope for device-use eye-strain to possibly counteract that. (Yes, I can be perverse!)
**Harlan Ellison told me this, over breakfast, in 1995, but I was a moron and didn't believe him. I had to learn for myself, apparently. You do still lead a cool life, though. (Edibles with Ellison! Random food-and-Harlan thought: I love that when he got limited to two burgers a year in the late 90s, he tried to make sure one of those was a McMenamin's burger up here in Portland. Another benefit of his working with Dark Horse at the time...) And I do admire how committed he is to the typewriter ( ... )

But remember, he can be wrong. (Like you've said about The Thing.)
