"To defile and to blister."

I slept almost eight hours, but feel like I have a hangover. So, all I can figure is that I dreamt of an absinthe binge.

More editorial slogging yesterday. But it is very, very nearly over. An amazingly productive day yesterday, really. Countless typos and continuity errors were corrected. A couple of new scenes were added. The Red Tree is nearing ( Read more... )

I am really excited about The Red Tree. Last night I read B is for Beginnings and I'm two stories into A is for Alien. I don't know what to say to describe them - they are so haunting, both cold and fleshy warm. (The story about the thorn prick freaked me right the hell out.) I'm thinking my dreams about going to NYC and being followed home by a slightly creepy, persistent girl are a result.

You're going to laugh at me, but I just may be in Portland at that time, if things over the next few months work out. If I am, would you and Spooky like to join me for a quick road trip to the Darlingtonia State Preserve to photograph cobra lilies in their native habitat?

Maybe. That would be cool. I figure they'll have me pretty busy, but we'll see.

The festival's Oct. 2nd, 3rd and 4th (Friday through Sunday).

A misspelling blunder on my part last night led to the creation of a new word: tyransitiuon. So, I thought I'd post it here and solicit definitions, etymologies, whatever.

Hmm. Sounds like something from the Periodic Table (not from the Periodic Table of Elephants!). Beyond that, I'm not science-minded enough for a more detailed answer.

And by the way, I first read "absinthe binge" as absinthe bridge. Probably Murder of Angels made my mind go there.

At 62, you should be heading out to Outland. Azeroth doesn't really have much in the way of 60-70 content.

We're figuring that out.

I think that you two might enjoy the story lines a bit more in the Outlands as well. They seem more fleshed out to me. Or at least more interesting anyway. Head through that gate and the game does spice up a bit. Personal taste thing of course.

Same thing again for Lich King at 68 +, they added a good amount to the mechanics of the game, in that you can actually do more than just fetch or kill things (though that still exists). Things like fly on dragons in combat using their abilities rather than your own, for one example.

I still do recommend creating a Death Knight when you can, just to experience their special starting zone. It's basically content that levels the Knight from 55 to 58, introduces you to their class and story, and how they integrate into the world. Fun romp even if you then retire the new character at the end.

Tyransitiuon: (n) magical stones used as transit cones on the T-REX highway project, Denver; Wiki for Ioun: Ioun stones and the deck of many things are other miscellaneous types of items found in this category. The Ioun Stones (pronounced EYE-oon[3]) are based on similar artifacts from Jack Vance's Dying Earth series.[4]
When functioning, they float in a circular pattern around their bearer's head, and grant various benefits based on their color and shape. Two stones of the same type will repel each other, and when drained of power, a stone becomes a dull grey, but still possesses the characteristic floating.
In the original Jack Vance stories IOUN stones are highly prized by arch-magicians, and are acquired from a race known as the archveults, who mine them from remnants of dead stars (in his book Rhialto the Marvellous).
